I had visited this establishment to months ago to inquire about wood burning fireplace inserts. The woman I dealt with was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I did my research and landed on an insert that this establishment did not carry. When installing that insert, I discovered I required a specific chimney fitting. I remembered from my earlier visit that that this establishment carried that specific brand. I paid them another visit to either purchase or order the part from them.
When I arrived, I was met at the counter by a [redacted] man with blonde hair and a goatee. His initial greeting was chipper and happy. I explained my project and that I required a specific chimney fitting. The man's demeanor changed immediately. He became condescending and began asking irrelevant questions to belittle me. I asked for a minute alone while I pulled the specific part number up on my phone.
I found the part number and went to the back of the store to find the man. He was sitting at a desk. I tried to give him the part number. He ignored my specific request and began asking more irrelevant questions. I knew exactly what I wanted/needed. He was extremely off putting with his attitude. I asked if he carried the brand I needed. He gave me a half hearted answer. I decided that I did not want to give him my business and turned around without saying a word and started for the door.
As my father and I were walking away, the [redacted] man began berating us, never cursing but yelling at us as we walked away. He then yelled, "I bet you bought it off the internet!"
To which I replied, "Yeah. And I saved a [redacted] of a lot of money."
Which is only halfway true. I purchased the insert from [redacted] and the liner from another stove store which happened to have and online store as well. All name brand equipment and all UL listed.
My family has spent several thousand dollars in this establishment in recent past, including my father. I can tell you, I will plead that they never set foot in there again. I've never been treated so poorly.
It's safe to say that the [redacted] man is the owner or the relative of the owner, because there is no way a proper manger would ever allow his sales employee talk to a customer in that manner and have a job afterwards.
