Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:First and foremost, my roof was leaking and A.GRoofing was the installation company of my roof in the winter of which was not fully finalized until Spring of 2015. This complaint was never about the start date of the project or how slow they were to finish or even how they added things on to the bid not initially informed about (venting and stucco repair) or even the horrible shape they left my home in after they were finished, but about the workmanship and completion of the project in a hasty manner, short staffed, under a heavy snow storm where accidental damage could have occurred during snow removal before installation of the final shingles. The date of the building permits were obtained in early September, with no homeowners association and only an agreement between neighbors, the connecting unit’s roof was completed promptly by a different company as ours took an additional two months. We had no issue with the delay of the roof until snow started to accumulate heavily and winter started closing in. The complaint is to express that A.G Roofing did not properly communicate the need for ventilation on all peaks during the bidding process to keep the bid as low as possible and win the contract, while then addressing the need for venting of the top peak as necessity after the work had already been started and contracted price agreed upon Upon contact this winter, they were not completely sure if ventilation (condensation) was the cause of the subsequent leaking issue and proceeded to bid me for additional work of $to install new ventilation on my remaining two peaks. This uncertainty about the issue raised alarms that they were unaware as to how to approach the repair and were guessing as to how to fix the issue. This immediately caused fears of their professionalism and future quality of work. I also was under the impression that they would provide the repair that was needed for free as I was still under their warranty, be it for venting or the area around the chimney flume. When I received a new bid for repair on March 10, for $3050, I was shocked. The option for a water test was not properly conveyed and was requested for me to be home to observe further leakage into the interior of my home while using a water hose to flood my roofing area. This request seemed unreasonable, as a non roofing specialist, requiring me to look for further assurance from outside sources if this was the proper course of action to assess the origination of the leak and to keep from causing more damage to the interior of my home Next, the roof was always accessible for A.G Roofing to assess the issue or repair the area, as I had my own ladder securely placed for access to the location for over four months. During the months of April and May, I was away for business and as a home owner was hesitant to allow A.G Roofing inside my home while not available on site, but had offered to allow them to be on the exterior of my home at any time from the initial assessment during these months to remedy the problem and repair the roof at any time. Unfortunately, I was under the impression from day one that they did not want to accept responsibility and was not interested in fixing the problem without compensation. As for other work performed on the roof, there has been no physical work or payment to outside companies for repair of the incorrectly installed flashing and poorly secured metal valleys. As of August 17, 2017, the roof continues to be in the same condition as when A.GRoofing assessed it originally and originally installed it. With the lack of customer service provided by A.GRoofing and the level of professionalism already observed, I requested a second opinion as to the quality of the work performed and if the roof was properly installed That secondary roofing company visually assessed the area and expressed concern that things seemed incorrectly applied, so I proceeded to request assistance from the shingle manufacturer, ***, to assess the quality of their newly accredited “certified installer” to learn if there was actually a problem with installation or if it was due to some other form of damage, accident, or shingle malfunction. When the shingle company would not assess due the issue being related to installation of the material, I reached out to an UNBIASED professional roofing assessment company out of Denver to make the final call as to the cause of the interior leaking. That assessment was delayed due to scheduling of the assessment company and eventually was finalized on June 10, 2017. They reported that the area around the chimney flume and the valleys were not properly flashed or connected and that ventilation of the peaks was not the problem. They also stated that there was no damage caused by any third party to the area and the leak was a result of the original installationOnce that assessment was completed and with further assurance that a water test was a course of action but not needed in this situation, I contacted A.GRoofing with the findings to see if they would like to proceed with said water test or just repair the 6ft x 6ft area they had already bid me in March. I offered to pay for half of the service of $and was promptly rejected. At this time, A.G Roofing stated that my original contact representative was no longer with the company and that I was past their warranty date, which was a result of their lack of expediency upon first contact of the problem. I also was not able to speak to the original representative of the company which is a family member of the owner to request assistance and discuss the initial bidding process of which he provided. They also stated that I had voided the warranty by accessing my own roof to look at the problem and accused me of the damage. They showed frustration and anger that my insurance company had been on my roof and that they were not the first to be informed of the leak issue. My insurance company was in full support of my further actions and at no time was there any other work performed Visual inspection of the area does not constitute repair All interior repairs have been delayed until the roof leak has been fully addressed and corrected. Lastly, I did not know the cause of the problem. I had noticed bubbling inside my home for over a year and only in February did I notice physical water running down my wall onto my wood floors. I had initially wrote the bubbling off to the age of the home and the need for new paint. Obviously, when physical water became present I assumed that there was an issue with the roof, as moisture was entering my home from above I hoped that it was an easy fix as the interior damage only amounted to $4000, and the leak seemed to be originating in one area around the chimney and valleys. After assessment, I only thought that A.GRoofing would want to remedy the situation and provide their customers with a quality long lasting product instead of denying responsibility and blaming others. If the shingles are guaranteed for years, but the workmanship is only guaranteed between months and years, what good does that do a homeowner that paid a contracted price to perform a lasting service by a supposedly reputable company? As per their response to my complaint, they are providing fake positive reviews on places like the Revdex.com and google and are making claims to keep from being held accountable for their workmanship by expressing that I somehow voided the warranty by being a responsible homeowner and receiving a second opinion. They also seem to not be very confident in their workmanship as they don’t like outside assessment of their work and finished product. They are the only company that has performed any work on my roof and they should be held to standards for their poor performance. I am requesting that the roof be fully repaired for the 6ft x 6ft area around the chimney flume / top of the peak with an additional year warranty, compensated for the interior damage of $4000, and reimbursement of the $3rd party assessment or monetary value of the damage of $by the end of September 2017. After the negative response of this company to my complaint through the Revdex.com, I am not expecting much and truthfully concerned about any future work done by their team on my home, as you should be too. I have always hoped for an easy resolution with A.GRoofing, with the repair taking less than a day to perform as I was told by the owner of the company upon his first inspection. The threats and accusations that I, the homeowner, am responsible for A.GRoofing’s poor workmanship, abysmal customer service, and irresponsible actions will be tested by their choice to remedy this complaint through the Revdex.com. Sincerely,

Mr. [redacted]’s position regarding the date that roofing work began disregards several factors that delayed the commencement date. First, Mr. [redacted] fails to account for the approval timeline for the building permit, which is governed by governmental authorities, not A.G. Roofing Company. Nor does Mr....

[redacted] account for necessary homeowner’s association approvals, such as the local Design Review Board. Moreover, Mr. [redacted] contributed to the commencement date delay because he and his neighbors had not decided the material specifications when Mr. [redacted] signed his bid on September 1, 2014. Aside from the factors listed above, the project was further delays because the supply company was unable to deliver the requested materials on the requested date. A.G. Roofing Company evaluated at least three other supply companies to see if they could provide a faster deliver, but the materials were on backorder at all the other supply companies.                 A.G. Roofing Company ultimately completed the project on November 26, 2014, not December 3, 2014. The water shield membrane is rated for a 90-day exposure period after installation. The water shield was exposed for approximately 42 days—well below the maximum exposure time. Upon completion of a project, we will contact the relevant governmental authority to inspect the roof. If the roof has a snow load, as happened here, the governmental authority will not inspect the roof until the snow has cleared from the roof. The timing of snow removal from a roof is out of our control unless the homeowner is willing to pay for the snow removal, which Mr. [redacted] was not willing to do. When Mr. [redacted] first contacted us regarding a potential issue, we indicated that we could perform a water test, as we have done for other properties with absolutely no issues. Mr. [redacted] rejected our suggestion and indicated that he did not want A.G. Roofing Company to enter his property. His refusal to allow us to inspect the property made it impossible for us to assess any issues, determine if there were any problems, and perform any necessary repairs. Lack of proper ventilation is a factor for more than half of the houses in the [redacted]. We regularly recommend ventilation to clients. Some clients, including Mr. [redacted], refused this option. Time passed after Mr. [redacted] refused to allow us to inspect the property and potentially resolve any issues. After a significant amount of time had passed, Mr. [redacted] contacted us and suddenly was interested in a water test and inspections to determine the cause of a purported leak. He indicated that he had contacted other companies regarding the leak, including manufacturing companies. By the time that Mr. [redacted] contacted us, his warranty period had expired. Accordingly, any additional work would have an associated cost. Mr. [redacted] was unwilling to pay for these costs. Even if Mr. [redacted] had contacted us prior to the expiration of his warranty, Mr. [redacted]’s actions voided the warranty. Mr. [redacted] also informed us that companies other than A.G. Roofing Company have been on and completed work on his roof. Our warranty clearly states that if any other roofing company performs any work on a roof that we have installed, the warranty is void. Because Mr. [redacted] allowed other companies to complete work on the roof, he voided his warranty.
