In March, 2012 I recieved a copy stating our homeowners insurance would increase by $19.00 this year, and that I had homeowners coverage through April, 2013. My annual premium would be $309.00. In April, I recieved correspondence (LETTER) stating that I needed to contact agent about my policy renewel. 3 weeks later, a second notice arrived in the mail outlining the same info. In May of 2012, my homeowners insurance policy [redacted] in the ammount of $309.00 was allowed to lapse by the Assoc Independent Agencies inc. I have a Mortgage (Loan # [redacted]) with Everhome Mortgage company. Everhome is the company that actually contacted us to inform us our coverage had lapsed. Through correspondance with Everhome, we were informed they tried to contact the Assoc Independent Agencies inc. twice about making payment for our insurance premium they were holding in our escrow account, and never recieved a bill from the Assoc Independent Agencies inc. The Insurance company will take no responsibility in this matter, and claims it was our fault for not responding to their correspondance efforts that caused our policy to lapse. They then proceeded to attempt to offer us another policy to replace our insurance policy [redacted] at 25% more that our old policy. We have had that homeowners policy for over 9 years, and through no fault of our own were cancelled only to have the company try to sell us the same coverage for a 25% higher price. Again, I have the letter from their company stating our insurance policy [redacted] would be renewed from April 2012-April 2013. It's the same letter we got every year, and we NEVER had to contact the agent in regards to our policy for 9 years in order to renew. The letter dated March 11, 2012 does not require us to contact the agent. What if we'd been overseas and could not reply to their letter. Either way, it was not our responsibility, they are taking no responsibility, and we are left without homeowners insurance because of their failure to provide.
