I went to A+ Iowa Dental for a crown. The crown fell out just a couple of months later. When contacting A+ Iowa Dental they explained that while the name of the business is still the same, the doctors had changed so they would not stand behind the workmanship of the original doctor. I didn't trust that business anyway so I went to the University of Iowa Dental Clinic. I have repeatedly asked for the required referral and was told that it would be sent. I arrived at my appointment today and the UofI said that they did not receive the required referral. I immediately called A+ Iowa Dental and they said that they would not send a referral but that the new doctor wanted to make the repair. The cost of the new doctor doing this would be twice as expensive as what I have lined up at the University. The doctor said no. That she will not send the referral. That it is either her or nobody. I thought that the last doctor was bad but she sounds much worse! I will be filling a complaint with the Iowa Dental Board but wanted to get this complaint out as soon as I could in case others are thinking about going to A+ Iowa Dental.
Other (requires explanation) I want A+ Iowa Dental to send the University of Iowa Dentistry a referral for the crown that fell out after that business did the work. I will not ever go back to A+ Iowa Dental so they will not be doing any more work in my mouth. That is my choice and my right. She can't blackmail me into being a customer for twice as much as what the University is charging!
I was able to get all of the chart printed out and we did call the patient to come in and pick up her entire chart and x-rays. Patient agreed to come in this after noon to pick up her records and she will take them to the new Dr. Let me know if this is all that we will need to do so that this case can be closed. Thanks

The University of Iowa Said that they still need a referral in order to do the work. I do not think that I am being unreasonable to ask for this simple request that the University is requiring, not me! I need to get this emergency work done. I am shocked that a Dr of dentistry is trying to use this as a way to get a dime. I will not be going to this dentist under any circumstances. So I need a referral to get the work done at the University of Iowa for much cheaper than she offered. I think there should be ethical issues that are being raised here. Since she is unwilling to send the University of Iowa a simple referral I will continue on with the Iowa Dentistry Board and the Iowa Attorneys General. I am in need of emergency care! The thought that a Doctor would withhold this simple referral is beyond words.
