In March of 2007 [redacted] AKA A & J Excavation and Construction, did build a fence and deck for me. After discovering last summer that the Trex decking was flawed to put it mildly, and part of a class action law suit, I dealt with that issue and just received my replacement Trex Decking. While removing some of the decking I was able to see that [redacted] had not used treated lumber for the 2 X 12 joists that framed the deck. The wood is in such terribly rotten condition that some of it was growing "conks" and could be ripped apart by my fingers.Mr. [redacted] refuses to replace it with treated lumber and bring the concrete supports up to code. I didn't know one was required, but he did not get a building permit. He refuses to get a building permit to do the rebuild up to code either. Apparently he does not have a contractors license in Washington, and I cannot find records of a license in Idaho either.I am meeting with an attorney this Friday to see what my options are.Sincerely, [redacted]
