I am writing in response to complaint # [redacted] , which was filed against my company on 10/19/ While it is true that I was hired in October for a property rehab, the job was estimated at the time at $50, This was a fire and water damaged property in which substantial damage not included in the original quote was discovered after beginning the project The house had to be torn down to walls and we rebuilt a bedroom, bathroom house for $60,Neither paint, trim, nor doors were part of the original contract It is also true that I am not a licensed contractor and never represented myself as such At the time of this project, I had employed Adrian M [redacted] , who did represent himself as a licensed contractor and he pulled all permits for the projectUpon the release of MrM [redacted] due to nonperformance, I discovered from the Mebane permit office that the permits were in the name of Jeff R [redacted] , whom I had never met nor heard of At that point, I met with MrR [redacted] and we agreed that his company would complete the siding on the project and his name would remain on the permits He was paid in full for the siding job In response to Mr [redacted] ' claim that I walked away from this project, I had attempted to explain to him that the work on this project had exceeded the budget and he refused to acknowledge the amount of work that had been completed up to that point At this point, my company could no longer afford to fund this project as we were losing money Much of the miscommunication surrounding this project stemmed from the fact that we had dealt with Mr [redacted] ' previous business partner from the beginning of the project Mr [redacted] stepped in after the dissolution of the partnership and acquired control of the project with little knowledge of what had been completed or communicated regarding timelines, materials and costs and immediately expected me to take responsibility for delays and differences in costs when we had clearly represented these differences with know acknowledgement from Mr [redacted] ' company We feel that we went above and beyond to try to satisfy our obligations with no chance of satisfaction on either endThank you for allowing us to respond, John H [redacted] A&J Properties Rehab Holloway Church Road Lexington NC

I am writing in response to complaint #***, which was filed against my company on 10/19/2016. While it is true that I was hired in October for a property rehab, the job was estimated at the time at $50,000. This was a fire and water damaged property in which substantial damage
not included in the original quote was discovered after beginning the project. The house had to be torn down to walls and we rebuilt a bedroom, bathroom house for $60,Neither paint, trim, nor doors were part of the original contract. It is also true that I am not a licensed contractor and never represented myself as such. At the time of this project, I had employed Adrian M***, who did represent himself as a licensed contractor and he pulled all permits for the projectUpon the release of MrM*** due to nonperformance, I discovered from the Mebane permit office that the permits were in the name of Jeff R***, whom I had never met nor heard of. At that point, I met with MrR*** and we agreed that his company would complete the siding on the project and his name would remain on the permits. He was paid in full for the siding job. In response to Mr***' claim that I walked away from this project, I had attempted to explain to him that the work on this project had exceeded the budget and he refused to acknowledge the amount of work that had been completed up to that point. At this point, my company could no longer afford to fund this project as we were losing money Much of the miscommunication surrounding this project stemmed from the fact that we had dealt with Mr***' previous business partner from the beginning of the project. Mr*** stepped in after the dissolution of the partnership and acquired control of the project with little knowledge of what had been completed or communicated regarding timelines, materials and costs and immediately expected me to take responsibility for delays and differences in costs when we had clearly represented these differences with know acknowledgement from Mr***' company. We feel that we went above and beyond to try to satisfy our obligations with no chance of satisfaction on either endThank you for allowing us to respond, John H*** A&J Properties Rehab Holloway Church Road Lexington NC 27292
