I have had my truck with this business for over a month now trying to get a fuel pump fixed. He took my truck apart trying to get to the tank that way then had to put it back together and just drop the tank like I had asked him to do in the first place. Every time I turn around it is "I'm waiting on a part or my mechanic is out." He wants parts paid for up front yet I never see the parts. I even have gone and got the parts myself and took them to him after he said he couldn't find any place that had them. He thinks because I am an older lady that he can just get away with this but I am not stupid. And I am not the only one he has done this way.
's truck was towed in to the shop after it shut down in a parking lot. She asked me to diagnose a probable fuel pump problem. I found the truck needed a fuel pump and gave her a price for the part and labor. Customer stated that she did not even have enough money to cover the cost of the part (around 350). I offered to order her a discount part on the internet and saved her 200 dollars (her part cost 150). I did ask her to pay up front before I would order the part as this is our company policy. We tried to install her new pump by raising the bed instead of dropping the fuel tank. We opted to do this because of the age of her truck, it is a 2003 chevy s10 and it has excessive rust underneath. This almost always means that the fuel tank straps will not survive being removed and will have to be replaced. We found after removing the bed that her pump was not accessible because her truck is a quad cab model. We replaced the bed and removed the fuel tank from the bottom. This required us to replace the fuel tank straps and hardware because they broke. This caused an issue because we were unable to find the right straps to replace the ones that broke. They were discontinued by the dealer. I ordered 4 sets from 2 different parts stores and each time they had to be ordered and each time they were wrong. I showed the customer the issue and she told me she could get them at *** a store thats not in our town. I asked to her please get them and she did. They were wrong as well. I called the customer and told her there was an issue and I gave her the original parts the we took off of the truck so they could compare them at the parts store. She brought me another set of straps on Friday March 8 2019 which turned out were wrong as well. On Saturday March 9 I received this complaint in my email. Tuesday March 12 we installed the only strap that we could find to work on her fuel tank and completed her job. On Wednesday March 15 she came to my shop to pick up the truck and wanted me to extend her credit for the labor and take her truck. I advised her I could not do that and she must pay in full. Thursday March 14 customer came and paid in full with a cashiers check and drove her truck home.
I agree that the truck was fixed only after the Revdex.com contacted the business. As far as dates and money statement and ordering of parts I disagree since I personally picked up most of the parts. However the truck is fixed and I will have nothing to do with this company again.
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.
