Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint Please add your rejection comments below In response to [redacted] 's letter I would like to say first that 9/13/was the date the car was picked up after he had already worked on the vehicleThis was not the day I initially met him at his shop Second, I did not complain that [redacted] charged me $but I was upset that after only a short period of time I was returning to [redacted] 's about a job he didn't do correctly the first timeYes, I did state in the first letter that he reimbursed me $cash and wasn't willing to pay the other $Third, there is no reference to another major auto part from this job which is the tensioner! You will see this on the attached invoice and [redacted] had stated in his own words "To clarify, every auto part that is listed on my customer invoices are completely 100% accurate." This is where the problem stems and where he hesitated when asked about the part being replacedYou will also notice that no mileage is stated on his invoice and it is hand written [redacted] says that he is an experienced mechanic but no computer generated invoices with the current mileage after a repair in the 21st century says otherwiseIf I had known that a valve was bent when the timing belt jumped originally then I would have taken action and again I would see [redacted] for compensationI would never allow [redacted] to work on any vehicle of mine ever againI would have ***'s Auto Repair do the workThe damage to the engine has been documented with photographs by [redacted] *** [redacted] had asked why I didn't notify him immediately about the problem in AprilWell the person who recommended [redacted] had told me that she and her family had a problem there after years of his serviceThey were so upset by the outcome from the problem that they said they would no longer take their cars to himSo after my car was towed to ***'s and finding out the diagnosis, why would I allow him to do the work on my car? He didn't do the job right the first time so why take more chancesI have been using ***'s for years and I trust them and I have never had any issues there***'s told me that the timing belt "jumped" as you can see in the attached invoiceI noticed that [redacted] had mocked me because I said "slipped"You will also notice that the mileage is stated on ***'s invoice at 170,Now this is again months after the initial repair and months later it arrives at ***'s with 175,(see attached photo)We don't know the mileage the [redacted] had when [redacted] serviced it but the math is pretty simple So I drive less then 10k miles a year and the timing belt should be replaced every 80k miles according to the owner's manualIf my math is correct, that means that I have 8YEARS before I need to worry about replacing my timing belt again based on my current miles driven! The timing belt had a problem only 7months later and the internal problem came to light 1year and months later [redacted] said that ***'s should have noticed a broken valve at the time of inspectionHow come [redacted] didn't mention this when he paid cash for ***'s repair? Wouldn't that be a perfect time to tell me this? He also wants to know why I had it towed to ***'s instead of ***'sWell first ***'s was the closet garage from where the car broke downSecond I'm paying once again for my car to be towed because of [redacted] 's negligenceAnd third, it's always best to have a second opinion! ***'s garage is ready and willing to talk about what they saw and did to my car for workYou can contact them during business hours [redacted] , ***, ***, & [redacted] are all willing to talk about this matter on my behalfThe same goes for [redacted] ***If I bring the car to ***'s for an inspection, then I would have to pay another diagnostic fee and a third towing feeIf [redacted] is willing to pay for these then there will be no problem with ***'s doing the work[redacted] stated that he is fully insured and licensedThat is important to me with any type of job that I have doneThis covers me in case of a situation like this Regards, [redacted]

I am writing this response in regards to *** ***’s Revdex.com customer complaintI remember *** coming to my repair shop initially on September 13, 2013, for the changing of his timing belt to his VW Jetta TDIWith decades of expertise changing timing belts, I had
absolute no doubt that the work I completed to ***’s vehicle, was to the best of my abilityIn no way was ***’s work job done any differently than my previous customer jobs.Fast forward to April, 2014, *** tows his car to “***’s Mobile Repair.” I acknowledge that *** came to my auto repair shop and complained that ***’s charged him $to place the timing belt back on after a “slip.” To anyone’s knowledge, a timing belt on any vehicle only has the ability to jump off timing, or break completelyThere is no way for a timing belt to slip and if ***’s claim that his belt “slipped,” his engine would have been gone right in that moment, not after nine monthsIn this case, I paid *** $to account for what he paid at ***’sIt is worthy to note, the only reason why I paid *** is because I have 20+ years owner experience in the auto repair business and I want my customers to always know I’m trustworthy and I careIt was not my duty in any way to pay *** compensation, especially after nine months, and I’m positive that no other mechanic/auto repair business owner would have done the sameTo clarify, every auto part that is listed on my customer invoices are completely 100% accurate*** proceeded to drive his vehicle for nine months after he brought it to ***’sI’m confused as to why *** towed the vehicle to a new and THIRD auto repair shop, “*** *** *** ***,” and not BACK to ***’s, where he last repaired itHow is it possible that a damaged valve due to “improper timing” suddenly appears after a year and four months? A prominent problem like a damaged valve in the engine should have immediately appeared, and not after a year and a half, as he claims. On another note, I advise anyone to check with any repair shop in the country: NO auto repair shop warrantees timing belts for as long as nine months*** made the decision to not only NOT contact me regarding his vehicle problems right when they started, but to also tow his car down the street to another repair shop, that being ***’sIf *** is claimingthat my “improper timing” caused a damaged valve in the engine, ***’s should have notified *** of that immediately… and not ***’s, the final shop where he took his vehicle. ***’s shop did work on ***’s vehicle and my concluding remark is that I am not going to take responsibility for other people’s work*** made the major mistake of not contacting me the very first time he encountered a problem with his vehicleMy auto repair shop, along with ***’s and ***’s, are all within ONE mile proximity of eachother*** could have towed his vehicle back to ***’s, because they were the ones to set up his timing beltIf he trusted the mechanics at ***’s as much as he describes and trusts their claims that the timing belt had “slipped,” how come *** didn’t tow his car back to them? Instead, he went to a third auto repair shop, ***’s, and proceeded to even get ***’S work diagnosed there. I, *** ***, owner of George’s Auto Repair, do not warrantee anyone else’s auto repair work, but my own.***’s multiple claims don’t add up, mechanically speaking

In response to [redacted]'s letter I would like to say first that 9/13/2013 was the date the car was picked up after he had already worked on the vehicle. This was not the day I initially met him at his shop.  Second, I did not complain that [redacted] charged me $170.00 but I was upset that after only a short period of time I was returning to [redacted]'s about a job he didn't do correctly the first time. Yes, I did state in the first letter that he reimbursed me $150.00 cash and wasn't willing to pay the other $20.00. Third, there is no reference to another major auto part from this job which is the tensioner! You will see this on the attached invoice and [redacted] had stated in his own words "To clarify, every auto part that is listed on my customer invoices are completely 100% accurate."  This is where the problem stems and where he hesitated when asked about the part being replaced. You will also notice that no mileage is stated on his invoice and it is hand written. [redacted] says that he is an experienced mechanic but no computer generated invoices with the current mileage after a repair in the 21st century says otherwise. If I had known that a valve was bent when the timing belt jumped originally then I would have taken action and again I would see [redacted] for compensation. I would never allow [redacted] to work on any vehicle of mine ever again. I would have [redacted]'s Auto Repair do the work. The damage to the engine has been documented with photographs by [redacted] had asked why I didn't notify him immediately about the problem in April. Well the person who recommended [redacted] had told me that she and her family had a problem there after years of his service. They were so upset by the outcome from the problem that they said they would no longer take their cars to him. So after my car was towed to [redacted]'s and finding out the diagnosis, why would I allow him to do the work on my car? He didn't do the job right the first time so why take more chances. I have been using [redacted]'s for years and I trust them and I have never had any issues there. [redacted]'s told me that the timing belt "jumped" as you can see in the attached invoice. I noticed that [redacted] had mocked me because I said "slipped". You will also notice that the mileage is stated on [redacted]'s invoice at 170,906. Now this is again 7 months after the initial repair and 8 months later it arrives at [redacted]'s with 175,514 (see attached photo). We don't know the mileage the ** had when [redacted] serviced it but the math is pretty simple.  So I drive less then 10k miles a year and the timing belt should be replaced every 80k miles according to the owner's manual. If my math is correct, that means that I have 8YEARS before I need to worry about replacing my timing belt again based on my current miles driven! The timing belt had a problem only 7months later and the internal problem came to light  1year and 3 months later. [redacted] said that [redacted]'s should have noticed a broken valve at the time of inspection. How come [redacted] didn't mention this when he paid cash for [redacted]'s repair? Wouldn't that be a perfect time to tell me this? He also wants to know why I had it towed to [redacted]'s instead of [redacted]'s. Well first [redacted]'s was the closet garage from where the car broke down. Second I'm paying once again for my car to be towed because of [redacted]'s negligence. And third, it's always best to have a second opinion! [redacted]'s garage is ready and willing to talk about what they saw and did to my car for work. You can contact them during normal business hours. [redacted], & [redacted] are all willing to talk about this matter on my behalf. The same goes for [redacted]. If I bring the car to [redacted]'s for an inspection, then I would have to pay another diagnostic fee and a third towing fee. If [redacted] is willing to pay for these then there will be no problem with [redacted]'s doing the work.[redacted] stated that he is fully insured and licensed. That is important to me with any type of job that I have done. This covers me in case of a situation like this.
Regards,
[redacted]
