***, I received your letter and complaint on the purchase of theFord to *** *** The truck was purchased on 4/27/The truck was a used truck and the bumper to bumper factory warranty expired on July 31st The transmission warrant expired on July 2014, and the
engine warranty expired on July 31st as well The customer signed a buyers guide that is required for every purchase in the state of Texas and it clearly shows that at the time of purchased there was no warranty and the truck was sold "AS IS" Mr*** came in from out of town to inspect and purchase the truck He signed the necessary paperwork and paid for the truck and he drove the truck home from Texas to Louisiana Upon arrival he notified us that the truck had an alternator that had quit working properly and the trailer brake controller was not working properlyAlthough the truck was out of warranty and Mr*** had agreed to purchase the truck"AS IS", we agreed to reimburse him for the alternator and the brake controller We sent him a check and I have enclosed a copy of it as well as the signed "AS IS" agreement that is required by Texas lawHe knew there was no warranty when he purchased the truck, and we were responding in "GOOD WILL" to reimburse him for those parts after the sale Three months later and after he had driven the truck almost 6,miles the engine failed He called us and accused us of turning the mileage back and selling him a truck with over 200,miles on it This accusation was untrue The truck was purchased by us from Ally financial with 57,miles on itAlly is a nationally know financial institution and they are not known for turning mileage back on vehicles they have soldThere is no proof that the mileage has been turned back in any case The customer has said that the truck has a different engine and that there are aftermarket parts on it under the front endIt is common for vehicles that are years old to have had previous repairs at times in their past and the owner may have used new, or used parts, and or after market parts to repair the vehicle Mr*** being an astute business man and an owner of his own company would certainly know this He operates a field clearing company and he is used to using heavy equipmentI regret that he is unhappy with his purchase, and to prove that point, we paid for repairs after the sale to try to keep him happy We were not legally bound to do so but, in the interest of customer satisfaction we did it anyway He has slandered us on social media and accused us of running a sham business We have been in business for over years and I have never had a complaint to the Revdex.com ever before We also have a perfect Ebay score of over three hundred purchases world wide We have not misrepresented any vehicle in the past, no do we intend to in the future The customer bought a used vehicle, he signed an as is agreement, and he feels that we are somehow responsible to warranty his truck from now on That is unrealistic and he is smart enough to understand that He has trashed us on social media and has used this as an opportunity to hold us hostage to fulfill his demandsWe don't owe him any restitution and he knows itHe is acting out of desperation I will not be held hostage by any customer who is acting outside of the legal remedy to solve a problem by using social media We went above and beyond our agreement to keep him happy, but he believes he is entitled to even more for some reason If you have any questions in regard to this transaction, feel free to give me a call Thank you *** ***President A&L Imports.-- *** ***A&L Imports, IncJohn McCain RdColleyville, TX 76034***-v***-f*www.aandlimports.com

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: No one has accused anyone of rolling back miles. That is absolutely 100% a lie. The statement was made by myself that I was going to have the PCM checked to see if the mileage was correct. That's a far cry difference from saying "you rolled the mileage back". Give me a break. When I brought the truck home, a day later I called the salesman([redacted]) and told him the alternator had failed, the trailer brake controller had failed and that the air bag fail indicator light was illuminated in the dash. He proceeded to tell me that the airbag failure was just a short in the steering wheel and was an easy fix. I also told him there was some writing on the engine oil pan which usually indicates it's not original and he told me it probably hit something in the road and had to be changed due to a hole or something. After I paid $37,5000 for the truck, he offers to buy it back for $35,000. Typical used car sales tactics. They did pay for the alternator and a brake controller(which did not fix the issue as the wiring has a short). I put a $14,560 engine in this truck yesterday. That is not acceptable. Did I buy a used truck? Absolutely. Was the truck presented as a 57,000 original mileage pristine truck? You bet they did. I spoke to [redacted] on the phone about the issues and all that came from that call is he knows how to throw a tantrum. Just like a small bratty child. I will not deny I bought a used truck with no warranty but I did buy a truck with what was told to me to have 57,000 ORIGINAL miles. Maybe things in Texas are different than what we are used to here in Louisiana but when a truck is advertised as having a certain mileage, that includes the engine as well. If I would have had a way to have know I had a scabbed together junk yard engine, I would not have purchased the vehicle. I am having the faulty engine serial number traced to find out the history on it and what the actual mileage of the truck it came from had on it at the time the engine was removed. As for the steering components being remanufactured and Mr. [redacted] saying this is common shows his limited knowledge of automobiles. Especially the heavy duty ones such as the one he sold me. Steering gear boxes are what is referred to as lifetime components. They do not wear out until up in the Hundreds of thousands of miles. Back to the engine, after the Ford dealer continued with the disassembly, they discovered mis-matched pistons indicating a scabbed together engine. Maybe I am crazy but in my little old mind, I think if someone sells me something advertising 57,000 original miles and it turns out that is false, they are morally responsible to, at a minimum, at least offer to cover half of the cost of repairs. I opted for a rebuilt engine in order to curb costs so it's not as bad of a cost as it could have been. If A&L Imports continues to state they are done with this, I will continue to exercise my first amendment rights. Additionally they presented the Carfax on this vehicle and repeatedly commented on how clean the Carfax was. Not sure how a truck in this condition has skated past Carfax reporting but somehow it has happened. I will not continue to go back and forth with this. A&L will pay for half of the $14,560 cost or I will continue my pursuit into the legal realm and also continue spreading the word on this great dealership.
Regards,
