The [redacted]'s heating and air conditioning system was installed on June 15, 2012. The manufacturer provides a standard 5 year parts warranty. We registered the system with the manufacturer for the homeowner so the parts warranty was extended to...
10 years. The manufacturer's parts warranty on the system expires on June 15, 2022. The manufacturer's warranty only provided a replacement for the failed part. The manufacturer's warranty does not cover the labor to replace the part. We provide a two year labor warranty on all of our changeout installations, the labor warranty on the [redacted]'s system expired on June 15, 2014. After the labor warranty expires the homeowner is responsible for paying for any labor charges for replacing a failed part. The [redacted]'s were charged a $99.00 service call to diagnose the problem with the system and a warranty repair fee of $85.00 to replace the failed part. They were not charged for the warranty part, the $85.00 repair fee is for the labor charge to install the replacement part and to file the claim with the manufacturer for the warranty part. If the failed part was not covered by a parts warranty the repair fee would have been $180.00 for this size of capacitor plus the $99.00 service call for a total of $279.00. We use a flat rate price book that is standard to the HVAC industry to determine our service pricing.
