I am writing in response to the letter we received on September 14, 2015, ID # [redacted], in regards to a billing complaint from patient [redacted]k.As was mentioned in your accompanying letter, there are usually two sides to every story. The patient was seen in our office 7122/15 and was diagnosed...

with needing localized prescription medicaments due to active oral infection. The normal fee for this procedure would be $1,600.00 for the medicaments, plus a $40 insurance co-pay for the office visit, and also a $100 placement fee. The placement fee equates to $25.00 per quadrant of four quadrants for administering subgingival injections of the local antibiotic medicament into the infected area. Our office informed the patient of the details of this treatment and that we would do our best to get as much covered for her as possible while working with her insurance companies on her behalf. Our office provided extensive paperwork processing at no additional charge while working with both the patient's dental and medical insurance to ensure that the total costs of the prescription medicaments were as covered as possible to benefit the patient. Payment was made in full by the patient's insurance directly to the pharmaceutical company for the cost of the prescription due to us properly handling the necessary paperwork. The pharmaceutical company in turn, shipped the medicine to our office for it to be administered by a dental professional. Our office was able to get waved the $40 co-pay that was due as a courtesy as well. The patient was solely charged the $100 placement charge for the multiple injections of the medicaments during her 1 hour appointment on 8/4/15. The patient received a savings of $1640 on the $1740 treatment and the total compensation to our office would be $100 which she refused to pay, and as of the date of this letter, is still refusing to pay. The patient received necessary treatment and also hours of employee manpower on her behalf. We believe we should be compensated for the service we provided.
