Feb 17Dear Sir or Madam, Please forgive any tardiness in this reply. Managing the affairs of a year old firm with employees which produces $20million in sales annually is quite time consuming as I am sure you understand. Mr*** ***'s written statements are correct to the extent of their content. If taken at face value , his complaint would seem justified. However, Mr*** has omitted a few significant points - to strengthen his minor complaint. Please see the first attachment which contains the report of our Service Manager in this regardSalient point to consider are:a.) Mr***'s disregard for the time our technician spent while he decided not to install the video door bell system. The time he spent deciding was made while our tech cooled his heels at the *** residence on our payrollMr*** spent that time at our expense. AMF Electric in a gesture of good will reduced it's original bill to $which DID NOT COVER our costsThat Mr***'s complaint ensued is in keeping with his tailoring of his allegations to portray himself as an injured innocentSuch is not the case, which conclusion is supported by his failure to contact after the original charge was reduced by nearly 2/3rds.b.) Our standard billing rate for the first hour and one-half our employee's residential service call is $That time was spent while Mr*** contemplated whether or not to install the system in his home which was NOT the SAME as had been the case in the installation of an identical system in his father's (Mr*** ***) home several months earlier(please see 2nd attachment)Such was not the case and is the reason why our tech on-site advised Mr*** against making the installationThe difference between the two homes can be explained in detail if desired.c.) Our residential Service department annually generates approx$million in sales and that this complaint by Mr*** is the first complaint submitted to the Revdex.com in several years attests to the fact that AMF Electric, Inchas an outstanding record and reputation for honesty and fair dealing with our clientele. /s/ *** ** *** VP Sec/Treas AMF Electric, Inc.c.) Mr***'s presentation regarding his understanding of the proposed billing status is incorrectA statement that work would be performed on a TIME AND MATERIAL BASIS. ic.) Mr*** had assured our Service Manager that his home was

Re: complaint of Ms*** ***

Dear sir or madam,
We are in receipt of your notification of subject complaint
Item #- It should be noted that we previously performed work for Ms*** (& May 15) without complaint, so she had a familiarity with AMF Electric prior to this contested workMs*** approved our proposal via email ofJun , prior to the installation without any comment, question or complaint(see attach#1)
Item#- Only after our work was completed (Jul) , inspected and billed (Jul) did Ms*** begin with her demandsWe later learned that she had contracted to have work done in her basement at which time the "do-it-all" contractor she had hired told her of need for more circuitry
Item #- Ms*** has continued to alter her position on the issue she raises as she insists upon getting something for nothingMost recently she never said a single word to me in our phone conversation which she references about "not paying until....", Just the oppositeAt the end of a lengthy discussion with her wherein I made it clear that we would: a.) replace full size breakers (of the installed) and replace them with tandem breakers thus providing the circuit capacityShe did not raise a qualm about my statement that there would be a charge (reduced) for this workShe asked that I provide a written proposal for the performance of this additional work and would I call her to read it to her due to her impaired eye-sight? I replied in the affirmativeI prepared the proposal and attempted twice to reach her on the number she gave me but to no availIt was close to the end of the business day, so we forwarded the written proposal via email( attach #2)Apparently after reading, or otherwise learning of the content of that proposal, she, not bothering to call AMF Electric to possibly reach an amicable settlement, then placed her lament with Revdex.com
Item #- The panel we removed was a circuit panelHowever, it had only breakers in it and all were wired for useWe replaced all with new breakers plus for the surge protectorIt must be noted that it is standard practice- absent a customer's request- to only replace existing breakers with same quantity of newThis we did in accordance with that common practice
Item#- 16/panels are commonly used in residential panel replacement workThe panels are fully approved by Underwriters Labs and hence also by the StLouis County Electrical ordinances
The approved panel design allows full size single pole breakers which fill the panel's bus bars to capacityIn the alternative full size breakers and tandem single pole breakers are authorized for use and also fill the panel's bus bars to capacity and provide spaces for circuit wiresAgain, please see Ms *** signed acknowledgment which clearly identifies the panel to be installed as " new 16/'BR' type panel"
Item #- As mentioned, Ms *** is a very pressing person in her verbal communication, unusually so
Throughout our post-work communication she has been variable in her statements as she modified previous statements in an insistence to try to get what she wantsIn this case what she wants is the full circuitry mentioned at no added cost to her
It is unfortunate that she put the cart before the horse since she is doing basement finish work and the additional needs were never mentioned to us until after we completed the panel replacement
I gather that Ms***'s intelligence was "insulted" by reminding her that she approved our proposal with it's clear statement regarding a 16/panelHer reply was, "...do you expect me to read everything I sign?" I seem to recall a reply which indicated that she would be better served by doing so
It appears also that Ms*** is holding payment - of our honest and complete fulfillment of the work for which she contracted - hostage in an attempt to get for free that which we are only willing to provide at a reduced extra cost
If there are any further questions in this regard please contact us at any time
Sincerely,
/s/ *** J***

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:None of the response from AMF was in regards to actual issue at hand I was lead to believe that AMF was to provide a free quote for a potential doorbell installationTherefore, any of their time at my house (approxminutes) was spent giving the (as advertised) free quote, and should have been free If AMF was planning on charging for something, they should have let me know the parameters in advance. The installation of the same doorbell for my father has nothing to do with the current dispute It goes without saying, all houses have different designs that would make installation requirements different Which again, is why it was essential that I received a free quote before choosing to proceed with any work. The service rep spent no more than minutes at my house, and based on his recommendation, I decided not to proceed with the installation because of the unique characteristics of my home and the relative difficulty of completing the job without causing aesthetic damages, which would have required more work to fix.It should have been made abundantly clear that the initial visit to my house was for a free quote I was provided with no advanced warning that there was going to be a cost for the visit, regardless of if the doorbell was installed or not.I'm sure that AMF has a fine reputation and I genuinely respect any small business that's been around for decades However, I am not sure why AMF would jeopardize their reputation by causing so much dissatisfaction with a first-time home buyer who was in the market for a doorbell installation and chose AMF on the basis they advertised free quotes I figured a company that's been around for so long would honor their own advertisements and claims
Sincerely,
*** ***
