A & M Mechanical Reviews (66)

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. In the first paragraph [redacted] states The correct indoor coil was obtained, per the York/Coleman distributor.  The indoor coil was installed properly per manufacture specs and quality installation standards.  This system was installed by another contractor in early 2010, and instead of contacting the installing dealer, we were contacted in early 2013 because the system was not cooling. He goes on to talk about an earlier repair. The first repair has nothing to do with my complaint. In second paragraph [redacted] states On 9/9/14, we came out to diagnose the unit, which was not 'keeping up'.  Being this a 'newer' unit and an elderly customer, we reprioritized the schedule accordingly to get out asap.He goes on to give history of his performance to make the repair. On service order #[redacted], I was to pay $897.00 for the repair work. How much time he spent I would not know. I did not time or watch any of the repair. Copy of my E-mail--Sent on 9-7-2014-It has been about 15 months since you last serviced my A/C unit. Please come by at your convenience and check out my unit.  [redacted]   [redacted]       [redacted] THANKS This was not a emergency or ASAP (Routine Maintenance) Third Paragraph > [redacted] states On 10/1, we were notified that the bottom of the package unit contained an inch or two of standing water, but one of the few major rain storms in Phoenix just occurred, and some standing water would be normal for a short period of time, but to keep an eye on it and let us know.  I contacted the customer on 10/21 via email and phone to provide a status on the warranty consideration, and also asked about the status of the standing water.  We were able to get $231.50 for labor & refrigerant, for which I sent the customer a check (less $75 for the unpaid diagnostic invoice from 9/9).  I was informed the water was gone, but that the system had been turned off recently due to cooler temps.  I replied that we'd still stop by when in the area, just to be proactive. (This is not quite true.) I never told her the system was shut down and the water was gone at that time (10-21) In my E-mail on 10-1-2014 I mention no certain amount of water. Contents of that E-mail> How do I get rid of standing water in bottom of the AC unit? [redacted]s E-mail response >From: [redacted]]Sent: Wednesday, October 01, 2014 2:57 PMTo: [redacted]Subject: RE: warranty consideration Hi [redacted] & [redacted], We received your request about standing water in the outdoor unit.  This is common considering the rain we just had, but it should easily evaporate within a week.  Keep an eye on it and let us know if it does not evaporate, or if you see more than an inch or two. There is not really a port to open to let the water out, evaporation usually takes care of it! Also, I have attached the diagnostic and repair invoice for the work recently performed.  Thank you for the $897 payment on the repair.  It appears we neglected to collect for the initial $75 diagnostic charge on invoice #[redacted].  I think [redacted] had said to hold onto the invoice to pay all at once, but then forgot to bring it up!   At your convenience, would you  please drop a check in the mail, or call in with a credit card?  We hope the a/c is working well for you since the recent repair!  I still have not received word one way or the other on our request for help on the cost from the manufacturer/distributor.  I sent a follow-up status request last Monday, and below is what I originally submitted to them a couple weeks ago.  I’ll keep asking and keep you updated! Thank you again for trusting us with your comfort, [redacted] also states she sent me a check>>> We were able to get $231.50 for labor & refrigerant, for which I sent the customer a check (less $75 for the unpaid diagnostic invoice from 9/9). (I never received a check on/or about 10-21 to 10-30-2014.) 11-13-2014>>>[redacted] called to say [redacted] was on the way over. This was when I told her the unit was shut down a few days due to cooler tempertures and there was no water in bottom of unit. The first thing when [redacted] arrived he handed me a check and said "Every little bit helps" In the fourth paragraph [redacted] states "We determined that the condensate was leaking on the backside of the indoor coil, and also that the system SHIFTED/SETTLED and affected the pitch of the condensate.  The system likely moved as a result of the major RAIN STORMS, as WE WITNESSED erosion near the equipment and WATER FLOWING under the mobile home." (There were no storms/rains on 11-13-2014). [redacted]  also states he told the homeowner that due to the structural integrity issues and manner in which the system was installed, the condensate issues could reoccur (no charge for the visit). I never heard those words used as he left the area. Except the no charge part. [redacted]s also states there is a plastic piece missing allowing exposure, which was missing back in early 2013 when we first serviced the system.  (I know that plastic piece was in the system up to the replacement of the inside coil) FACT: [redacted] is the only person to service this A/C unit since the original installation. He is the only person to remove all side panels and top of unit. I hold him responsible for repairs inside this Unit. [redacted]s states>> We have reviewed this case with York, who confirmed that this system is not designed for mobile homes. It is advised that the customer contact York directly and request a Field Service Representative, who will be able to assess the equipment and conditions, and coordinate any approved repairs with a York dealer. He claims to have made a perfect repair on replacing the inside coil and this problem of water not draining out of drain pipe and draining into the bottom of unit is due to shifting/settleling and weather conditions. This unit was performing well prior to the inside coil leak.To resolve this problem lets invite York Enginers/Quality Control Personal/Dealers/Revdex.com Represenative/Me/Or my (designated rep) meet at the A/C unit and you demonstrate/explain/show how the unit has moved, shifted, settled, twisted, warped from the original installation. In other words lets look at the tangible evidence. Regards,[redacted]

Over the years we have hired several HVAC professionals to assist with installation and maintenance on our home system. A&M Mechanical far surpasses all of the others for efficient, friendly, professional service all around. Mark selects and trains the best technicians who are not only skilled at their job, but also excellent communicators who are great at helping customers how their HVAC system operates and how to do home maintenance and management more efficiently.

First of all, you cannot do better than this company and their owners [redacted]
and [redacted]! Having lived here in the Phoenix area for a few years now, I've
found companies to be fairly flakey and in some cases dishonest in their
dealings with the customer. I guess it's easier to hide questionable
reputations in a big metroplex compared to the smaller community that I came
from. I came upon them through a recommendation from a coworker after having
discussed with him the problems of finding a reputable AC repair company.
I'm glad I called them after experiencing a problem with one of our AC
units. I first talked to [redacted], and told her what was happening and what had
been done so far. She told me that [redacted] would be able to come out in two
days due to the back log of their work load. I told her that was fine, but
she also assured me that if anything changed with their schedule they could
possibly swing by earlier. [redacted] ended up being able to swing by that same
day! He immediately diagnosed the evaporator coil to be the problem, as it
had a noticeable leak. He was able to quickly get details of the coil to [redacted]
who then immediately was able to find out that it was still under warranty
and found the replacement stocked locally for immediate delivery. This was
on a Thursday, and they scheduled us for the replacement install the next
Monday! [redacted] and his helper came early that Monday morning and spent all
day working on the install and the associated QC checks to insure a system
that would be 100% after they left. In between the checks, they had a little
down time, which they used to check the other unit and was found to be in
working order. Everything is working like it should now, and the house is
staying at a comfortable temperature without the compressors cycling
unnecessarily, wasting electricity. I really cannot recommend them highly
enough. I appreciate their honesty, professionalism and work ethic to take
care of their customer (me).

We are more than impressed with the quality of work done by the owner, [redacted],and his employee, [redacted]. [redacted]'s wife, Amy, manages the office and is also very knowledgeable. [redacted] grew up helping his father in his air conditioning business and is the most knowledgeable person in that field that we have ever talked to. He understands air flow and how to get systems to work at their optimum levels. We had 2 new systems installed by another company 2 years ago but our air flow still had numerous problems. The east side rooms were not balanced and the west side air flow was very noisy. On the east side [redacted] and [redacted] installed a new plenum and re-worked much of the duct work. He installed dampers at the air handler on each run so we could control the air flow. Our family who visits frequently said their rooms were very comfortable during their last stay. Previously to make one guest room comfortable, the second guest room was hot. On the west side [redacted] and [redacted] installed a new plenum, a second return which they located in our master bedroom, moved the supply in the master bedroom to the ceiling, and installed a second supply in the ceiling. The difference in our master bedroom is amazing. The air flow is quiet and the return in the master keeps that room very comfortable when the door is closed.

A & M Mechanical installed 2 new HVAC units at our rental home recently. [redacted] made the installation easy and accommodating for our tenants while [redacted] communicated with me every step of the way. I trust A & M to take care of my home and investment property AC & heating needs as well as my clients. I have recommended them to numerous clients as I know they will give them the very best service, professionalism and at a fair price.

We recently used A & M Mechanical for replacing our two air conditioning units and heaters. Their professionalism and attention to detail were absolutely top-notch. Everything went exactly as they said it would, and we are 100% pleased with the outcome. We have been using them for years for maintenance of our units, so felt confident they would do a great job.

What an amazing experience with Mark and Amy!!! I bought a house in Scottsdale in 2008 and have had nothing but horrible experiences with getting my heating and air conditioning checked every year. Last year I was told I needed two new units due to "a refrigeration leak from an unknown location". I was referred to A&M at the time but they were not available the week I was here. I did find someone else last year that was honest and told me that they could not find a leak and simply refilled the coolant. This year I called and Mark came out today. He did the most thorough inspection I have ever seen and told me both units should last for several more years. He was the ultimate professional, detail oriented, and careful and clean in my home. I could not be more satisfied and will certainly use them use them in the future and refer them to my friends. Thank you!!!

After a couple of bad experiences with Air Conditioning companies I learned about A&M through some mutual business associates. I must say it's the best experience I've ever had and I highly recommend them for your A/C and heating needs. Not only did they do a thorough inspection and needed repairs, [redacted] took the time to explain some things to watch for with my system. He even showed me some things in the attic that I never knew about our system. Very professional, competitively priced and a pleasure to do business with.

A&M Mechanical is genuinely a great company. A&M Mechanical installed a A/C in a condo unit which was on top of a two story complex. Several obstacles hampered the installation. However, all were quickly overcome and the A/C system was up and running efficiently in two days. The quite old system was removed and replaced with a new system. A&M Mechanical has done work for my family in the past, both commercial and residential. I highly recommend A&M Mechanical to anyone, both commercial and residential.

Thank you to Amy and Tyler at A&M Mechanical for the prompt, courteous, and professional service they provided my 88 year old mother today. Her heater was blowing cold air this morning and the house temperature dropped 5° below the set temperature. I called A&M and spoke with Amy. First she walked me through a couple things to try to correct this. When these did not work she fit us into an already busy schedule. Tyler was out promptly during the timeframe provided. He was extremely courteous and provided excellent explanations of what was going on. We cannot thank them enough for taking such good care of our mother.

I highly recommend A&M Mechanical for all of your heating and AC needs. Their service, professionalism and integrity are the best in the industry.

A & M Mechanical is extremely trustworthy, dependable & as honest as they come. I never have to worry about referring them to my family & friends because I know they will be taken care of the first time & every time. The service technicians take pictures to show you & take the time to explain exactly what they find if anything. Way to go A & M Mechanical you delivered with excellence once again. Thanks for all you do!

I called A&M after starting with the manufacturer of my heat pump / air conditioning system, then the regional distributor, who recommended A&M. I had done a lot of research on both the heat pump and a thermostat I tried to install, and both [redacted] and [redacted] were very knowledgeable of both systems, and respectful of the small amount of knowledge that I have. The work was done promptly, as scheduled, and with full explanations about what was done and why. I could not have been more pleased. I am not very easily impressed, but I was blown away by A&M.

I am extremely satisfied with my new Air Conditioner & Heater purchased from and installed by A&M Mechanical. The [redacted] are the most honest, friendly and dependable people I have worked with in a long time. I highly recommend them and will be referring them to many. A & M Mechanical is a truly an amazing company!!

After 20 years of somewhat faithful service it became necessary to replace the two airconditioning units at our house. I decided to get three estimates. I contacted A & M Mechanical and two major players in the airconditioning business in the Phoenix area.

The three companies visited our house, looked the situation over and provided estimates. The two major players gave the house and the existing units a cursory look and provided estimates. They never questioned the existing units (one was a 4 ton and the other a 5 ton unit), measured the volume of the house to see which units would be most appropriate nor did they talk about the difference between 20 year old technology versus modern equipment. One of the major players bid a single stage unit which is entirely inappropriate in terms of modern technology and energy efficiency.

A & M Mechanical did a very careful review of the house and the existing equipment. They measured the volume of the house and dialed that into their calculations. Amy told me she needed to go back and check some calculations on volume and would provide an estimate after that review. Upon receiving the estimate from A & M Mechanical we awarded them the business. Their thorough review of our house and existing equipment along with their professional manner was what won our business for them.

We scheduled an installation date and the time to complete was estimated to be three days. A & M Mechanical showed up at the agreed upon date and time. They completed the installation in the most professsional manner and the work areas were spotless when they were done. The work was completed in three days as originally indicated.

I have already recommended this fine company to several friends and I would highly recommend it to anyone reading this review.

I was referred to A & M from a friend.
Very wise choice. Very professional
and quality work. In a day and age of shady
contractors. To find someone of this caliber
is huge. [redacted] and [redacted] are both very knowledgeable
in their field of work. Did an awesome job installing
our new programmable thermostat.(Honeywell)
Very awesome caring people.
Thanks Again

EXCELLENT!!! After 'shopping' 3 different service providers we went with A & M Mechanical for a total system replacement (A/C and Heat) and am glad we did. The owners, [redacted] and[redacted], A & M, provided fantastic service from start to finish. I could go on and on with all the details, both large and small, of the comprehensive service that was provided but am limited by space. We are very pleased with the final product, bill, and would recommend A & M Mechanical to all family, friends, etc.

No one likes to call for a repair but this was truly painless and reasonably priced. I have no problem telling everyone that they are legit.

Knowledgeable, professional and excellent customer service. I have used A & M for 3 years now and have never had a bad experience
