A & M Mechanical Reviews (66)

We first became aquainted with A&M Mechanical when we had some problems with one of our rooftop units in 2014. At the time they were able to be fixed inexpensively and upon their recommendation we decided against replacing the units. Though at that time we were convinced that we would likely use the services of A & M Mechanical in the future.

Speed up to this year. The same two 30 year old units were having issues. We received two quotes for fixing them. One company quoted $1050 while A&M was able to get the unit temporarily working again by adding a bit of oil. They then recommended repairs at $480.

We decided to replace both units with A&M as they were several thousand cheaper than the other company. (The final charge was $500 LESS than they had quoted!!). We were just tired of dealing with the old units on a yearly basis.

A&M is a family business and I was extremely impressed with their customer service and responsiveness. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

I called this company on a Friday during the hottest part of the summer (average 110 all weekend) They gave me a rough estimate and had me scheduled for a crane on the following Tuesday. Mark came out on Saturday to take measurements so that the appropriate equipment could be ordered. He was extremely polite, informative, and professional. I always ask too many questions, and he had an answer or explanation for them all. On the day of install we had a large windstorm that forced them to come off the roof for a few hours, but, they returned and stayed till close to 7pm to make sure my family would be able to sleep in a cool comfortable home that night. They were comparable to price to other companies, and their install was so well done that when my neighbor had another company service his AC, the technician commented on how well done our unit was installed. If its obvious from 75ft away, its even more obvious when you look at it up close. They take their time and pay attention to detail.

A&M Mechanical... honest and ethical are the two best words to describe. I was very impressed with A&M and sadly I admit that I am extremely distrusting of mechanical contractors overall. [redacted] from A&M was dispatched to our home to review a previous contractors inspection report which I was extremely suspicious thanks to the $2900 quote. End result after [redacted] inspection, 2 capacitors were replaced for about $100 each. Under $400 for a full two hour inspection of two exterior and 1 interior unit plus the capacitors. [redacted] provided a full write up of voltage/amps measured and provided pictures of his findings to support his report. I would absolutely do business again with A&M.

Excellent Service, care, and integrity. A & M are the best in the valley. I have used them on two houses without any problems. They go the "extra mile" to assure that you are satisfied!

Mark and Amy are knowledgeable, timely, courteous, and detail oriented. They provide excellent services and are very conscientious. I recommend A & M Mechanical without reservation.

The correct indoor coil was obtained, per the York/Coleman distributor.  The indoor coil was installed properly per manufacture specs and quality installation standards.  This system was installed by another contractor in early 2010, and instead of contacting the installing...

dealer, we were contacted in early 2013 because the system was not cooling.  Upon finding a leak at the service port line (rubbing against other copper lines), we repaired the leak.  The warranty on this system is for parts only (an extended warranty for labor and refrigerant allowance was not purchased) and was not applicable in this scenario.  However, we requested any 'help' from the distributor/manufacturer since this unit was 3 years old at the time, and were granted $100, which we credited to the service invoice.  On 9/9/14, we came out to diagnose the unit, which was not 'keeping up'.  Being this a 'newer' unit and an elderly customer, we reprioritized the schedule accordingly to get out asap.  We found a leak at the indoor coil, which was covered under the parts warranty.  We replaced the indoor coil on 9/17, and again requested any 'help' from the distributor/manufacturer.  We were at the job site 5.5hrs, and only charged 4 hours and refrigerant to help ease the pain the homeowner had experienced with this 'newer' unit (and we were not the installer who usually builds in contingency for such warranty work).  On 10/1, we were notified that the bottom of the package unit contained an inch or two of standing water, but one of the few major rain storms in Phoenix just occurred, and some standing water would be normal for a short period of time, but to keep an eye on it and let us know.  I contacted the customer on 10/21 via email and phone to provide a status on the warranty consideration, and also asked about the status of the standing water.  We were able to get $231.50 for labor & refrigerant, for which I sent the customer a check (less $75 for the unpaid diagnostic invoice from 9/9).  I was informed the water was gone, but that the system had been turned off recently due to cooler temps.  I replied that we'd still stop by when in the area, just to be proactive.  Please note the customer says he contacted us on 10/20, but in fact the communication took place on 10/21, and it was I who proactively initiated communication with him via email and phone to talk about the warranty and ask about the water.  Our proactive follow-up to confirm all was satisfactory occurred on 11/13.  While the homeowner notes we stayed a short time, we actually were on-site for 1.5hours.  We determined that the condensate was leaking on the backside of the indoor coil, and also that the system shifted/settled and affected the pitch of the condensate.  The system likely moved as a result of the major rain storms, as we witnessed erosion near the equipment and water flowing under the mobile home.  In addition, the condensate line does not have a "P" trap (per York installation instructions), which should facilitate condensation flow.  This was omitted at the time of system installation (by another company), and the configuration of the piping along the ground does not permit adding a "P" trap.  We attempted to repitch the condensate as much as possible, cleared out the clog in the condensate, and applied silicone as well (the 2-3 inches of caulking noted by the customer), and told the homeowner that due to the structural integrity issues and manner in which the system was installed, the condensate issues could reoccur (no charge for the visit).  As to the customer's comments on 8-10inches of visibility of the indoor coil: there is a plastic piece missing allowing exposure, which was missing back in early 2013 when we first serviced the system. Since the condensate issue at hand is not due to our workmanship on the indoor coil installation, nor the wrong indoor coil, we have reviewed this case with York, who confirmed that this system is not designed for mobile homes, as it does not allow for the proper static pressure, which can affect performance of the system over time (and energy bills).  It is advised that the customer contact York directly and request a Field Service Representative, who will be able to assess the equipment and conditions, and coordinate any approved repairs with a York dealer.

Thank you Mark and Amy. I am a very happy customer due to them. From the very first phone call to them to see what they could do for me with replacing my A.C. unit to the install A&M were awesome to deal with. Very informative and knowledgeable, any questions my wife or I had they answered they were also willing and did send us a copy of their insurance no questions asked. I will recommend them to anybody in a heart beat!!!!!

It has been a true pleasure to do business with a company who reflects all aspects of their work ethic at every level of their business practice. They take pride in their level of customer service, and for good reason; they excel at it. Not only does the company and their employees deliver what they promise, but they do so happily, kindly, respectfully and professionally. Questions are not simply welcomed, but are encouraged. I could not be happier with my experience with A & M Mechanical, and would gladly recommend them to anyone who asks.

Fabulous Service! Quick and reliable! What a great team A & M Mechanical is... They fixed our air conditioning problems! We will use them again if needed....

A big thank you to Tyler and Mark!

What a great team at A&M! I just recently bought the home and was told by another company that was doing the yearly maintenance my A/C was on it`s last leg. To get a second a opinon, I had A&M look at it. They did some repairs that the other company overlooked(showed me pitures of the A/C's interior as well) and told me in all honesty I could wait a couple of years to replace it if needed. They quoted me the EXACTE amount to replace it and offered me three different options which they explain throughly the benifits of each. A&M showed up each day promptly, answered all my question's during the installation process. They even offered to comeback and check the unit after I get a new roof! I feel I got my money's worth and then some.

A&M Mechanical is a great company to trust your air conditioning and heating needs to. They came out when promised, were efficient and explained everything that needed to be done. They got our air up and running in no time! We recommend them to anyone that is having a cooling or heating problem.

[redacted], from A&M Mechanical did a very complete inspection of my heating and cooling system. I requested this due to an energy audit from a "Green Company" that I had hired to inspect my home. In that audit, it was suggested that my air handler should be "boxed in" at a cost of $900. [redacted] informed me that it was "boxed in" and that everything was fine. A&M even researched my system and relayed all the warranty information so that I knew what I was dealing with. A&M Mechanical is now my regular heating and cooling go to company. Refreshing to deal with a friendly, knowledgable and professional business.k

What an amazing experience with Mark and Amy!!! I bought a house in Scottsdale in 2008 and have had nothing but horrible experiences with getting my heating and air conditioning checked every year. Last year I was told I needed two new units due to "a refrigeration leak from an unknown location". I was referred to A&M at the time but they were not available the week I was here. I did find someone else last year that was honest and told me that they could not find a leak and simply refilled the coolant. This year I called and Mark came out today. He did the most thorough inspection I have ever seen and told me both units should last for several more years. He was the ultimate professional, detail oriented, and careful and clean in my home. I could not be more satisfied and will certainly use them use them in the future and refer them to my friends. Thank you!!!

I am extremely satisfied with my new Air Conditioner & Heater purchased from and installed by A&M Mechanical. The [redacted] are the most honest, friendly and dependable people I have worked with in a long time. I highly recommend them and will be referring them to many. A & M Mechanical is a truly an amazing company!!

I was referred to A & M from a friend.
Very wise choice. Very professional
and quality work. In a day and age of shady
contractors. To find someone of this caliber
is huge. [redacted] and [redacted] are both very knowledgeable
in their field of work. Did an awesome job installing
our new programmable thermostat.(Honeywell)
Very awesome caring people.
Thanks Again

We are more than impressed with the quality of work done by the owner, [redacted],and his employee, [redacted]. [redacted]'s wife, Amy, manages the office and is also very knowledgeable. [redacted] grew up helping his father in his air conditioning business and is the most knowledgeable person in that field that we have ever talked to. He understands air flow and how to get systems to work at their optimum levels. We had 2 new systems installed by another company 2 years ago but our air flow still had numerous problems. The east side rooms were not balanced and the west side air flow was very noisy. On the east side [redacted] and [redacted] installed a new plenum and re-worked much of the duct work. He installed dampers at the air handler on each run so we could control the air flow. Our family who visits frequently said their rooms were very comfortable during their last stay. Previously to make one guest room comfortable, the second guest room was hot. On the west side [redacted] and [redacted] installed a new plenum, a second return which they located in our master bedroom, moved the supply in the master bedroom to the ceiling, and installed a second supply in the ceiling. The difference in our master bedroom is amazing. The air flow is quiet and the return in the master keeps that room very comfortable when the door is closed.

I called A&M after starting with the manufacturer of my heat pump / air conditioning system, then the regional distributor, who recommended A&M. I had done a lot of research on both the heat pump and a thermostat I tried to install, and both [redacted] and [redacted] were very knowledgeable of both systems, and respectful of the small amount of knowledge that I have. The work was done promptly, as scheduled, and with full explanations about what was done and why. I could not have been more pleased. I am not very easily impressed, but I was blown away by A&M.

A & M Mechanical is extremely trustworthy, dependable & as honest as they come. I never have to worry about referring them to my family & friends because I know they will be taken care of the first time & every time. The service technicians take pictures to show you & take the time to explain exactly what they find if anything. Way to go A & M Mechanical you delivered with excellence once again. Thanks for all you do!

A&M Mechanical has serviced our previous Salon and Spa and also serviced our personal home, my son's home and a residential rental unit. This is truly one of the most exceptional heating and cooling services we have ever utilized. Their service is always above reproach and completely stands behind their work. We would highly recommend A&M Mechanical to anyone that has cooling and heating needs, both commercial and residential.
