A Nerd's World Reviews (%countItem)

We hired A Nerds World to help us with creative and web site design. An initial consultation with the Nerds had us move forward with the custom website package (value $5,000) Silver logo design package and SEO jump start. Total cost $5,424.00

As the project progressed The Nerds were found to be billing us for each customization request to the web site and event minor changes like font. We also discovered that when they requested meetings or calls to elicit our direction we were being billed hourly for helping to guide them. Our project was passed of from one employee to the next as they experienced significant turn over during this time and with each change of person we had to start over again on creative and direction.

The cost of this project sky rocketed to over $20,000 and at no point were we advised that our costs had more than doubled. Due to external forces (legal matters that were time sensitive) we were forced to pay in order to have them turn over the web site credentials to us.

They took advantage of a vulnerable situation and grossly inflated their costs.

Desired Outcome

More than anything we want to make other consumers aware of their practices. Their sales, billing and customer services practices are morally reprehensible. The head of the organization shows zero remorse or interest in protecting the consumers his business ultimately serves. We are requesting a resolution Total $2,160. My comments appear below in case you cannot see them in the claim. We paid for a custom website package and were billed over and above the cost of the package for the customization we requested. We would like to be reimbursed for the additional customization costs that were charged in addition to the cost of the custom website package. We also paid for an SEO Jump Start Package that was never completed due the willful and malicious neglect as a result of us voicing our concerns around their unfair business practices. Total $3,160 itemized below The Custom Sticky Header $240.00 Custom Header $960.00 3 x PSD templates for spinning property titles $320.00 Reworking site with the custom layout - replacing images, alignment, mobile responsive, header adjustments $560.00 Adding additional custom functionality to property-flipping tiles (buttons) $80.00 SEO Jumpstart - $1,000

The client hired us and we completed the project 1 year ago.

Our website packages range from $5,000 to $100,000 to build a custom website from scratch. *** the final invoice totaling to $16,226.80 including HST and not over $20,000 as the client indicated. *** an email from *** (April 10, 2017, acknowledging that the total for a custom website with 7 additional pages ($7,100), 1 silver logo ($1,500) and ($1,000) SEO Jumpstart is $9,600 before HST ($10,848 with HST). This was also the cost in the original invoice. *** was clearly aware of the cost per page and the final page count is significantly more than the original invoice. The difference between the original invoice and the final invoice is due to modified deliverables and changes to the original project scope such as but not limited to additional pages, custom header graphics/ illustrations/ feature sheet, and custom development.

The client specified in the complaint that they were billed hourly for meetings or calls however, any other web development company would apply the charge as billable hours including meetings. The client was not charged for any meetings as indicated in the invoice even though we had multiple in-person meetings with multiple people on numerous occasions.

We received the initial deposit on April 17, 2017, and immediately, we engaged with the client. The logo design alone was finalized 4 months after we were hired (August 4, 2018) not due to our lack of effort but due to the client's decision-making process. More than 20 strong logo designs and 7 revisions were provided only to be told to enhance a design drafted by ***, their marketing lead. The client was not charged any additional costs for the additional time it took to finalize the silver logo design.

Emails
*** the client, *** acknowledging additional cost for custom graphic work and additional updates to the website.

*** the project manager *** acknowledging to pay the remaining balance along with a master list agreed completed and agreed by both parties to finalize the project.

*** agreeing to 10 hours of additional work.

*** paying 50% of the invoice.

We employ in-house staff and the work order is rendered as a team. Multiple developers and project managers are involved because we're not a one-man team.

The client has 5 captains, all have different ideas, different revisions, and different requests and we can't be held responsible for their disorganized information.

The client was happy with the end products which is why they made the final payment not in good faith as mentioned in the complaint. While we're not completely satisfied with the final website design, we built the website based on the client's directions. The client approved the additional costs and additional hours via email and are 100% aware.

Not all clients are the same. ***

We can't be accountable for the client's lack of success.

Customer Response • Sep 25, 2018

We find that the businesses response is unsatisfactory.

We plead for the Revdex.com to take a closer look at the practices of this company. ***

This company forgets that we (customers) contracted their service because creating a website is not our primary business - it is 100% their business. The needs of customers are not a burden to a business - they are the purpose of that business.

*** a performance report that was generated in April of this year. We have been working with other organizations to help us fix the low quality and poor performance of the site we were left with since our contract with A Nerds World was completed last year.

The fact that "website packages range from $5,000 - $100,000" is excellent supporting evidence of the risk this business poses to consumers. A Nerds World takes generous liberties with making package adjustments on behalf of their clients. Our situation was unique because we were working to meet a fixed deadline (which was ultimately missed due to project delays and we suffered consequences as a result). Invoices were paid and not disputed because A Nerds World would not turn over the site credentials unless this was done.

*** Our team had creative differences with the dismal logo designs we were provided as part of the 2 "SIlver Logo Design Packages" we purchased. A Nerds World was not receptive to constructive criticism of the logo designs and personalized feedback we provided to advance their work effort. We ultimately gave up and had to design the logo ourselves.

After reviewing A Nerds Worlds website, I've come to find that our logos (past & present) are being used on A Nerds World's website to promote their business. We ask that these are removed immediately.

Thank you

Please be aware and do not pay cash, cheque or with chip and pin technology. Always pay with a credit card with these guys as they are very crafty with how they'll get away with taking your money and disappearing.

The owner Chris H.is MIA all the time, very difficult to get a hold of.

A Nerd's World Response

You sent me a personal message on *** last Friday with a message of "urgency" requesting me to call your cell phone. After 2 hours with no response you stated "Noted you're avoiding again". I am a business owner, that was not on *** at the time. When I did try to respond this morning, I was blocked and couldn't reply.

You called my Bathurst Location on Friday afternoon requesting Charlie give you my personal cell phone number because of your urgent matter, and of course he didn't give it to you.

You are not the Queen of England nor the Queen of my world. You paid for hourly work on your website over a year ago, and that website was complete over a year ago. ***

*** You are not welcome in any of our 4 stores, you are not welcome to call ***. ***

***

Either way, all the best! ***
