I am rejecting this response because: A sign on the wall vsa line item in the contract is NOT acceptable. The contract does not state no refunds on the deposit. I was not advised, nor did I "know", as the business suggests, that this was a policy. To come back and state that I knew this is ridiculous. The business had the opportunity to advise me of this when they were contacted initially (in writing) of the situation. They chose not to. Now they want to keep money that was not earned and will not ever be earned. In addition, to state that I cancelled service "so close to the wedding" is again, ridiculous. The business had a five month notification that the date was invalid and they therefore have had plenty of opportunity to reschedule another event, and have probably done so. This business was notified of the situation in a very timely manner. To state that I was aware of a sign on the wall of their office and therefore knew the guidelines is completely unprofessional and a disgrace to customer service. I expect a full refund immediately and advise the business to take the sign off the wall and PUT IT IN THE CONTRACT!
Ms *** and her fiance *** contracted with me for DJ Services early in September of and approached me Mid January (outside of days from booking) stating she needed to move the date and had not come up with
a NEW date yetI told her we could hold her deposit for one year as was our policySo, she had till September of to use the deposit or lose itShe next emailed me at the end of March stating that her fiance and herself had split and there would be no rescheduled wedding and officially cancelled her contractI let her know I would as a courtesy hold her deposit till the September date and it would be forfeit after thatShe wasn't interested and wanted a refundOn the wall of our office we have a sign that plainly states that deposits are not refundable, I will as a courtesy allow for a reschedule as long as we are not bookedMs *** knew all of this at the time of booking and although I am truly sorry she has canceled her wedding it is not our policy to do refunds especially so close to the wedding date and after days from deposit dateThank you for allowing us to address her concerns in a business like manner
Review: I hired this company to DJ my wedding which was to occur on May 10, 2014. Approximately January 2014 I advised the vendor that the wedding had been cancelled and that their services were no longer needed and that I expected to be refunded my $300.00 deposit. The vendor advised that they would "hold" the deposit for 12 months pending another wedding date. I then advised them that there would not be another wedding date within 12 months and asked that the deposit be refunded to me. They then came back and said that they do not give refunds after 90 days. I am asking that my deposit of $300.00 be refunded immediately.Desired Settlement: Refund of $300.00 deposit

Response:
Ms [redacted] and her fiance [redacted] contracted with me for DJ Services early in September of 2013 and approached me Mid January 2014 (outside of 90 days from booking) stating she needed to move the date and had not come up with a NEW date yet. I told her we could hold her deposit for one year as was our policy. So, she had till September of 2014 to use the deposit or lose it. She next emailed me at the end of March 2014 stating that her fiance and herself had split and there would be no rescheduled wedding and officially cancelled her contract. I let her know I would as a courtesy hold her deposit till the September date and it would be forfeit after that. She wasn't interested and wanted a refund. On the wall of our office we have a sign that plainly states that deposits are not refundable, I will as a courtesy allow for a reschedule as long as we are not booked. Ms [redacted] knew all of this at the time of booking and although I am truly sorry she has canceled her wedding it is not our policy to do refunds especially so close to the wedding date and after 90 days from deposit date. Thank you for allowing us to address her concerns in a business like manner.
