A-Ok Roofing

Review: On August 24, 2015 I contracted with A-OK roofing, Larry I[redacted] to replace the roof on my house. The contract said A-OK would install a new fan in the roof. The fan is physically there, but is not wired to the electricity. The fan has a thermostat on it. The thermostat is hanging in mid-air, below the fan. The thermostat needs to be attached to the house, and then connected to the house wiring. The fan is not installed. Installed means the fan is working. The fan is not working. A-OK roofing did not do what the contract said A-OK would do. As a consequence, my roof has suffered high heat, which will shorten its life, due to the exhaust fan not being installed. I don’t go in the attic often, so I did not discover this until now.

I called, and spoke to Larry I[redacted] on June 27, 2016 10:30am. I told him that the fan is not installed. He told me that he is not an electrician, and was not allowed to connect it. He told me to connect the wires. I am not an electrician. He did not tell me he could not do the wiring when I signed the contract. Mr. I[redacted] said call him that afternoon, he would come by and connect the wires. I called him on June 27, 2016 6:08pm. He said he would come by next day, and “help me connect the wires”. Mr. I[redacted] did not show up.

The new thermostat needs to be attached to the house. Extension wiring will have to be run from the new thermostat to the place where the house wiring is. A cover will have to be taken off of the old thermostat, so the wires can be removed, and connected to the new thermostat, which is part of the new fan.

I called Mr. I[redacted] on July 18, 2016 9:09am, and told him that I consider the job to be unfinished, and that it is A-OK’s responsibility to hire a qualified, licensed electrician to come and complete the job, and fulfill the contract. The contract is paid in full. Mr. I[redacted] said he would not hire an electrician. I am filing this complaint against A-OK roofing, Larry I**e, principal owner.Desired Settlement: I want the exhaust fan to installed by a qualified, licensed and experienced electrician. I want A-OK to pay the electrician directly. I don't trust A-OK to send an electrician. I would llke to hire one myself, but have the bill sent directly to A-OK, and have A-OK be legally responsible for paying it. I don't know if it works that way. I want it done soon. My roof is suffering from very hot air due to A-OK's not doing what was contracted for. Hot air in the attic shortens the life of the roof. However it works out, I want A-OK to pay for an electrician to come and finish the job.

I couldn't have been more pleased with this company. I had a new roof installed and [redacted] and his crew were professional, competent, and efficient. They completely cleaned up all debris and finished the project well within stated time frames. [redacted] explained the entire process prior to starting the project and reviewed the finished project prior to leaving. I would highly recommend this company and certainly plan to use there services for other repair projects.
