We were approached for a "survey" at Home Depot with a chance to win a gift card. We were told we won but it was contingent on a home water test. We were just beginning to price out water filtration systems and figured a baseline test would help us make an educated decision. Little did we know we were inviting a 2 hour long, hyper-aggressive sales pitch into our home. The "water-test" was a lot of smoke and mirrors where we might test one object but not the control. Still, since we didn't know much we were considering putting some cash together and purchasing from A-One once the time was right. That changed quickly.
At the end of the evening, when we expressed that we couldn't commit to a nearly $10k decision on the spot the salesman mocked us told us that we should get jobs as Uber drivers so that we wouldn't embarrass ourselves by being broke when presented with the opportunity of a lifetime. Our home security video caught the whole thing - we watched it a few times afterwards. We were nothing but polite and saying that we needed more time. This guy was a total jerk. I called the HQ to let them know about my experience. No return phone calls. No apologies. They're just moving on to the next target.
This company has no ethics.
Oh and the kicker - you can get a better system (at Home Depot, no less) than what they offer (with installation by a certified plumber) for just around $1500. Avoid the scam. Don't let jerks into your house.
I received a phone call from A-one Water Specialists informing me my name had been chosen from a drawing and I would receive $500 in coupons. I was told the coupons would be delivered the next day and they would be specific for the [redacted] Area. I was skeptical, but a bit excited...what did I have to lose? Well, at the end of the conversation with the well spoken gentleman, he casually asked if we would be interested in hearing about the products they specialize in at the time the coupons would be delivered. 'What could it hurt, seeing that you were dropping $500 worh of coupons specific to the small town we live in? I'd be happy to hear what you sell.'Turns out, the salesman of a Rainsoft Water Filtration System arrived at our house the next day. He presented his product to us for over an hour and by the end when we declined the offer, I asked him about the $500 in coupons. He had no clue what I was referring to. A-one had no intention of giving us coupon, especially $500 worth, specific to our town, but only wanted to get their foot in our door to push, HEAVILY, their products on us.
