In September, 2015, nine people were accepted into our teacher training program and on May8, 2016, six people successfully completed the trainingClearly, not everyone is able tocomplete these trainings; they require a lot of hard work, dedication, organization, clear focus, and a “firm commitment to complete,” as stated in our literature, which she did receive onAugust 15, along with her acceptance into the programOn April 3, 2016, after spending aconsiderable amount of time addressing Mrs***’s concerns by email regarding our finalweekend which would be a final project and other concerns about prior assignments, she stillneeded to speak, so I texted Mrs*** on April to tell her I would CALL her after 7:pm,after my class that night, or the very next day to discuss her remaining concerns regarding ourassignmentsThese assignments were first discussed and explained months prior andthroughout the entire trainingHowever, she ignored this message and on her own accorddecided it would be best for her to enter my studio on April 4, knowing that I was in the middle ofteaching a class, thereby interrupting my class and was prepared with hands on her hips tocreate an altercation, telling me I was wrong, confused, etcI admit, this was troubling behavior. So, after all of my students left class, I promptly got Mrs*** outside of my studio and intomy parking lot where we BOTH exchanged disagreementsShe knew I was late in picking upmy daughter, which is why I offered to “CALL” her after my class but none of this seemed tomatter as she apparently needed immediate attention, hence coming to the studioThe verynext day, on April 5, I did call Mrs*** to apologize “profusely” (as if that is such a badthing?) and tell her that a refund was not viableMrs *** did receive a letter of acceptanceon August 19, stating that a non refundable $deposit was required along with a firmcommitment to complete the course but Mrs*** chose to pay in fullThough I did call Mrs.*** the next day, on April 5, to apologize “profusely” she has yet to do the same for heractionsA refund was discussed since she clearly was looking for one, however, Mrs***determined the amount and the time I would bring the refund to herShe thought I should comethe next day even though I told her I could not, that I was going to another eventMrs***continued to contact me a great deal to the point of distraction and border-line harassment, so II was advised to not respond or make contact until we could both remain calmI did send Mrs.*** a refund for the time she did not complete, even though she did not “commit” tocompleting the course as was requiredShe was aware that the last month of our training wasto present a final project so she missed one weekend of instructional training, thus I extendedthe option for her to complete the training, as a self studyMrs*** was the only oneuncomfortable with the final project assignment and asked if she could complete it at her yogastudio, since she states prior to April 4, our “energies” were so differentThis makes me wonderwhy she feels the yoga alliance accreditation is so valid as she is already offering yoga at herbusiness without it AND, I did not even disagree to her request, I simply asked her what hervision was if she was to do her final project at her spaBut I digress, contacting me again justminutes prior to our 8th and final training weekend on April 8, the subject of her email reads:Should I come tonight? My immediate response: “You are most welcome to come tonight if youwish.” Her final response: “ Thanks Helen, No worriesjust say you don’t have the moneyinstead of being so nasty.” Mrs*** should perhaps consider her inconsistent behaviorregarding this questionable refund; “I demand a full refund.” No“I demand a partial refund bytonight.” No“...just say you don’t have the money instead of being so nasty,”Even after all ofthese name calling, school yard bullying tactics, I still offered her the opportunity to complete thecourse at the studio or on her ownIf completing the program was her main objective, she hadan opportunity to do thatHer actions after her refusal to return to the training are hersMrs.*** decided to take another training and that is her choiceI wish Mrs*** wellPleaseknow that Mrs*** signed a waiver on September 25, not to sue the Bedford YogaCenter or any affiliate of the Bedford Yoga CenterThank you for the opportunity to reply to thismessage

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
I am refusing the offer from MrsMaxwell at the Bedford Yoga Center for the following reasons:The course is a hour Teacher Training course that is required to receive Credentialing fromthe Yoga Alliance to teach YogaI signed up for this course so that I could teach yoga and usethe credentialing to augment and increase my offerings in my professionThe classes weredivided up into weekends of which I had completed She states that I had completed 85% ofthe program, however NONE of that is transferable or usable at any other school or in any otherwayIn order for me to obtain my credentialing for Yoga Alliance I am having to take a differenthour teacher training and pay for that training in full.I came to MrsMaxwell on the evening of April 4th seeking help, clarity and understanding of thecoursework and assignmentsI had full intention of completing the entire program, until Mrs.Maxwell became very upset and unprofessionalShe of her own will offered the refund for theentire amount and after some discussion I agreed to take her up on her offer for the refundthereby entering into a verbal agreement with her on Monday April 4th, that she wouldbring me a check for the entire refund the next day.She states that she offered me the opportunity to return to the training or to complete through aself studyOn April 5th she called to apologize for her behavior on April 4th and then she beganto Yell so loudly on the phone that the people in the house with me could hear her clearlyAgain, the only reason that I did not complete the training was because of MrsMaxwells loss oftemper, insulting and demeaning comments, yelling, telling me she was talking to me like shewould talk to a child, and telling me to “quit acting like a victim.” This created a space that washostile and not conducive to learningNo! There is no way any one in their right mind couldsubject themselves to an environment so unprofessional and hostileAs far as a self study goes- I didn’t pay to have a self studyI paid to have a teacher who could help through the processof learning and guide me if I needed support. In that conversation, April 5th, she again agreed to give me a refund but for the lessor amount of$leaving out the $depositShe failed to keep her verbal agreement to bring it thatevening stating that she would mail it to meOn Friday April 8th, I had not received hercheck so I called her and asked her and she told me that she wasn’t giving me a refund and thatshe had been advised to not even talk to me, BUT that I should come to classThree times shebroke her agreements to refund the money the for cost of the trainingVerbal agreements arelaw in Virginia and I expect her to keep her word.No where in her flyer or sign up forms did it ever say that $deposit was non refundableItwas only after paying the $and applying did I receive an acceptance letter that said it wasnon-refundableThe total amount I paid her for this training was $She made a verbalagreement on April 4th, with me to refund the entire feeShe offered the refund withoutany request from me and I accepted because it was clear to me that the months I hadinvested into her training were now at a waste due to her unprofessional behavior and that Iwould have to take the training againI have since since been accepted into another teachertraining which cost $plus lodgingIf MrsMaxwell can not keep to her own offerings andagreements then I will have no choice but to take her to court
