Thank you for this opportunity to explain how we operate and how we reach out to people in their search for senior living options. This consumer called us for assistance, and we verified her phone number during the initial conversation. As part of connecting those seeking senior living
options, we connect them to a senior living advisor who works with the family to select a number of senior living communities to visit as part of a referral process. Once the communities are identified, we share the contact information, including phone number, to the referred communities so that the communities can assist those consumers in scheduling a tour and visit. This is expressed in our Privacy Policy as well. We have not called this consumer since she reached out to us. And we have since told the communities that she does not want to be called by them

We are in process of removing the community's profile from the Our Parents website This action should be completed by tomorrow. Please note that the comments listed on this page are not those of our organization, but posted reviews from consumers

Thank you for contacting A Place for Mom about your recent experience. First of all, we apologize you were involved with any discussion around billing. Our contractual agreements are with our senior living partners and should never involve a family. We are a free, support service
for families and this organization should have not involved you in this discussion. We are now actively working with *** *** to resolve the situation. We also wanted to let you know that as part of our partner contractual agreements we allow our senior living partners a period of time to let us know if they are already working with a family that we have referred to them. In the case that the partner is previously working with the family they are required to let us know and we would not bill the partner for our services or involvement. Based on our contractual agreements, we keep these conversations solely with our partner communities and never involve families. We hope this explanation is helpful and know that we have reached out to *** *** based on your comments

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me

Thank you for your feedback. When you originally reached out to us, different forms were filled out with two different phone numbers. Many times families that contact us for help are in an urgent situation, so we try to be proactive with our response. In this case we were being
proactive on both numbers which we understand can be overwhelming. We have now placed you and both phone numbers on our do not call list so you should not receive additional calls from A Place for Mom. We apologize for the inconvenience. The team at A Place for Mom

We apologize that Ms*** continued to receive emails from A Place for Mom. Our top priority is to support families based on their needs and requests. In this case we didn’t service or support Ms*** to our standards. Our file with Ms*** and her mother has been
marked as closed and she will receive no more calls or emails from us

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:They did not state that they removed any information they may have received from me. I do not want them trying to go after any referral fees down the road, the advisor gave me no information that I was already not aware of
Sincerely,
*** ***

Hello and thank you for your message. First off, we want to confirm with you that you have been placed on our “Do Not Call” list and you should not be receiving any calls from A Place for Mom. Second, we want to apologize for this experience. While we do call families back quickly
as many families have an urgent need, the rate and frequency of calls to you describe is outside of our standard practice. We are investigating why this occurred and do apologize. Thank you for bringing this to our attention

Thank you for reaching out to us and this opportunity to explain the contractual requirements between A Place for Mom and the partnered community. We refer interested consumers to partnered communities. The partnered communities pay A Place for Mom a referral fee if the consumer
determines the community to be a good fit and then subsequently movto the community. This negotiated and contractual requirement to pay the referral fee extends past the date the contract is cancelled. This requirement is clearly set forth in our contract with all partners. There are five unpaid invoices with Rocky Creek Village. In each instance, the consumer was referred to Rocky Creek Village prior to Rocky Creek Village’s decision to terminate the contract between our companies in April 2015. For each of the five unpaid invoices, the consumer eventually chose Rocky Creek Village. That the contractual requirement to pay the referral fee extends past the date the contract is cancelled has been explained many times to Rocky Creek Village already. We hope this resolves Rocky Creek Village’s question about the unpaid invoices

I still feel like the amount of calling bordered on harassment, but it is what it is but a way to double check phone numbers to make sure they are not pranks seems like it would be beneficial to all

We apologize for the confusion. This webpage has been removed By way of further clarification however, we have not been sending consumers seeking assisted living options to this private residence

Dear Mr***, at the outset, we can confirm that your phone number has been added to our Do Not Call list
It appears that someone keeps entering your phone number onto our website and asking that we call that number to provide that person with senior living referral services. We do not
know if this person is using your number accidentally or intentionally. Regardless, we can confirm that your phone number has been added to our Do Not Call list. If that same person or anyone else keeps entering your phone number onto our website, we will not call you. If you still encounter problems, please contact me directly Thank you for letting us know about this issue so that we could resolve it. Sincerely, Charlie S***, Vice President

Thank you for allowing us this opportunity to explain and clarify the business practices of A Place for Mom. A Place for Mom is a senior living referral service that provides resources about senior living options to consumers. A Place for Mom only contacts consumers after they have
reached out to us for help by filling out the form located on senior living website. Many people need help urgently and their loved ones are often in dire situations. Therefore, we respond quickly in attempting to contact them by the telephone. In this case, our records show that someone listing himself as Mr*** grandson requested our services on February 15, 2016, by filling out information (including providing Mr*** telephone number) on one of our affiliate websitesWe attempted to contact Mr*** at the provided telephone number over the course of the next two days. We have now noted in our database that Mr*** does not want us to call him again and we have removed him from our email newsletter as well

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
Your company did not, in any way, support my family in placing my mother in her assisted living facility, nor did you respond appropriately to my initial complaintMy complaint is that your company is erroneously charging the facility where my mother is living, under the guise of allegedly helping us find that facility
My history of dealing with your company is this:
1. A few years ago, when I found that my mother needed a “community” to live in, I found your company on the internetSomeone from your company called me and said they would send me a list of facilitiesI never received that list
2. The list I used to locate my mother’s next “community” was from the rehabilitation center where she went after a hospitalizationI visited all the places on their list, and my mother moved into the one we chose
3. A few months later, I received another call from a local agent of your company, told her I had received nothing from her, but had found a “community” on my own
4. A year later, my mother’s year old friend, living in a facility near-by, asked that my mother be moved in to her facility, because that facility provides excellent care
5. After we visited and agreed that the new facility was better than the one she was in, we moved her there
6. Months after we moved my mother, I received another call from an agent of your company asking if we needed anymore helpThis agent did not know that we had placed my mother in any facility, let alone two of themI told the agent that we had moved her, without any help from them
7. I received a letter asking for an evaluation of the newest facilityI wrote back that your company had no reason to ask for an evaluation because they had nothing to do with my mother having found her new home
8. The manager of the new home showed me the bill your company sent, wanting payment of a full month’s fee for the "referral" from the facilityThe bill also contains a statement that says if they do not pay, that the credit bureau will be notified
There is no reason for your company to bill the facility where my mother is livingYour company did not provide any support whatsoever for her placementAn unfulfilled promise of an emailed list, two years previous to her moving into her current facility, in no way constitutes support
Even though I am not the one being billed, I object to you billing the facility where my mother livesThe facility is not passing your bill on to me
I am the one who knows that your company did not refer us to any facilityWe found both placements on our ownI am infuriated that your company is insinuating itself into our situation and charging for a service you did NOT provide
I insist that you retract your bill in writing.
Sincerely,*** ***
