A-Plumbing P.O. Box 1672 Rockport, TX 78381 Revdex.com RE: Complaint ID #[redacted] In response to the complaint filed against our company: 1) We were scheduled to be at [redacted] house Friday April 15" between 2p-4p. We were running behind and our office staff called her to let...

her know we would get to her, she was next on our list, and we did arrive at 5:20p. However, [redacted] was reassured that she would not be charged emergency rates because she called us early that morning to schedule the appointment. It is company policy that we do not charge emergency rates to anyone who calls in and is scheduled by our office for same day service. 2) In an attempt to figure out where the water leak was coming from, we cut a hole in the sheetrock under the kitchen sink, but the water leak was below the floor plate. We then cut a hole in the bedroom ceiling under the kitchen sink, but could not find the leak. We cut open the eve under the kitchen sink area and we could not access leak. The leak is in between the eve and the kitchen floor plate, which is solid wood. To access the water lines, the wood siding will have to be removed. The water had been off to the entire house all day. In the mean time we cut and capped the water lines going to the kitchen sink so we could turn on the water to the rest of the house. [redacted] was very happy that we could turn on water to the rest of the house soshe wouldn't have to go all weekend without water. 3)    We told [redacted] we would return Monday morning April 18' to continue the job, but wanted us to come back on Tuesday. She said she was going to have a friend come down to open the exterior wall to allow us access to complete the repair. She then called Monday and said her friend couldn't come until Tuesday evening and would need Wednesday morning to open up the wall. She said they would be ready Wednesday afternoon April 20th . We scheduled her for Wednesday afternoon as she requested. 4)    When we arrived Wednesday afternoon the exterior wall was opened and the sheetrock was completely removed under the kitchen sink. Once the wall had been opened, [redacted] friend had discovered that the main 2" drain in the wall had a nail shot through it, which would also need repair. Our plumber put together the Flat Rate, Up-Front price for doing all the repairs and presented them to her and she did not like the prices. So, we collected $114.00 for the work done on April 15. 5)    As for the financial claims, of all the walls/ceilings that were cut open, all of them were needed in order to perform the repairs. The only hole that was not necessary was the ceiling in the downstairs bedroom. The charge for her contractor doing the sheetrock repairs in both the kitchen and downstairs bedroom ceiling is $100.00 total. The hole in the kitchen was four times the size of the ceiling repair, therefore the cost to repair the bedroom ceiling was $20.00. I am willing to pay $35.00 which is more than fair. 6)    As for the copper repairs that were needed, only the cutting of the hot line was uneccessary. According to her next plumber, the total charge for all the copper work was $251.38. The amount of time to repair the hot copper line is approximately 30 minutes (which is generous). With the cost of the materials needed, 1/2" copper 90 is $1.34, two 1/2" copper couplings are $2.04. If you add up the materials and labor ($105/hr. X half an hour = $52.50) needed, the total is $55.88. 7)    So, the total refund according to her contractors is $35.00 for sheetrock repair and $55.88 for copper repairs. The grand Total is $90.88. We are willing to refund the $114.00 she paid us to call it even. In closing, we are very sorry she is so unhappy, however this is exactly why we do Up-Front pricing which gives the customer the option of saying "yes" or "no" to our Flat Rate price. The vast majority of our customers are pleased that we give them a price before we do a repair. We are enclosing a copy of both her contractor Invoices ( Marbach Plumbing & Wiatrek) for the repairs made. We will not pay for her contractors invoices; we will only refund what we charged. I'm being generous by offering to refund the $114.00, and not a penny more. Thank you, [redacted] Owner, A-Plumbing [redacted]
