On Monday April 19, my son registered for an ACT/SAT prep course advertised as 'no cost' and we received a confirmed email. The next day, I received a call from the business stating that the course is $325. An hour later after the conversation, the advertised no fees was still posted online and now it has been rectifiPlease see below the confirmation.SAT/ACT Prep @ A+ SouthpointThis comprehensive course includes dynamic instruction for reading, math, English, & writing and teaches academic skills necessary for success on the SAT/ACT & beyond. My child should becable to take the course for wgat was advertised!Business Response We've been in business since 2011 and hosted over 80 tuition-based SAT/ACT test prep courses. To date, this complaint is the ONLY one we've ever received. We are sorry that a customer had a bad experience with our company, and we have spoken to her at least three times to try to explain the different types of courses and seminars we offer. Unfortunately, we have never offered a full SAT/ACT prep class at no cost. Tuition-based courses generally consist of between three and twelve instructional hours. Not one of these courses is free. Complimentary (i.e. free, zero customer cost) seminars we offer are up to an hour-long only and listed exclusively on this page of our website: http://aplushigherscores.com/free-seminars-parents-act-sat-prep/. Additionally, registration for free classes is handled through EventBrite. Registration for tuition-based courses is handled through Constant Contact. Course prices are clearly stated on our website, which lists the entire course schedule: dates, location, and fees: http://aplushigherscores.com/sat-tutoring-raleigh-durham/. The only way to access links to register for courses is from this page. The customer, in order to know which class to register for, had to see this information before registering. When an incomplete registration (i.e. information submitted but no payment made) comes to us through Constant Contact notification, our policy is to contact the customer immediately to follow up on whether the customer intends to complete the enrollment with payment. This protocol is exactly what lead us to contact the complaining customer on the morning of April 19, 2016. (Our call log can verify this.) The customer was informed at that time of the information supplied above: multi-hour, tuition-based courses are not free. Free seminars are listed completely SEPARATELY from the courses she wanted to register for. The customer indicated at that time that she would think about whether she would pay for the classes she wanted to enroll her son in. She called on the afternoon of April 19 alleging that we should honor the "advertised" price of $0. Again we explained the same and offered to forward her contact information to our business office for a more complete response. Our business manager spoke with the customer via telephone on April 21. He indicated that all of our courses are fee-based and that if she wished to pay zero, she could access our free seminar listings on the corresponding page of our website. The customer's allegation that there are "advertising issues" is unjustified. We can supply an editing log from our website that shows a timestamp for each and every change made to each page. The course schedule and fee listing page has not been edited since the customer's attempt to register for the prep courses. This documentation therefore demonstrates that the customer simply failed to read the course listing and tuition fees carefully.
