Review: I contacted A Plus Medical Supply in February to help with the process of receiving a powerchair that was deemed medically necessary by my general physician. A Plus Medical Supply had a total of 3 personnel handle my claim because 2 of them had left the company. The information was not handled properly and led to an unnecessary dismissal by my insurance because A Plus Medical Supply had put in different information than what was scripted by my doctor. I had to undergo an appeals process that was delayed because all of the information I had sent and that my doctor sent was not fully kept in good records by A Plus Medical Supply. As a result, in March, the company sent someone to pick up the paperwork necessary from my doctor's office in the Bronx.

Instead of a 72 hour appeal that I was promised from A Plus Medical Supply to be applying for, I went weeks without proper information about the status of my appeal. An A Plus Medical Supply representative would tell me my appeal was denied, yet in mid April, I received a call from my insurance letting me know that the appeal was approved and that the supply store should have the information already handy so that I would not have a delay in receiving my chair. I had to inform and insist to A Plus Medical Supply that I was approved for a chair.

A Plus Medical Supply did not provide me with a brochure of the types of chairs that they have, the woman [redacted] that was assisting me could not tell me much about the chairs and also narrowed down my option to only one chair based on what her boss, [redacted] suggested to me. I did not get a brochure about the chair, only a printout from online that did not tell me anything about possible accessories that come with the chair or brand contact information.

It took until May [redacted] for me to get a chair, after being promised one for more than a week. A Plus Medical Supply could not tell me when to expect my chair, they blamed it on the delivery company and had said that they "lost" the original chair and had to order a replacement chair. Suspecting a scam, I contacted their contractors, Academy Orthotics and Prosthetics Associates. Academy Orthotics and Prostetics tried all that they could to mitigate, but I received the wrong type of chair for my condition and it did not come with the cover, brochure, owners manual or warranty information.

Throughout the process of my complaints to Academy Orthotics and Prosthetics, I received nasty phone calls from A Plus Medical Supply representatives, including [redacted], who yelled and cursed at me on the phone. I was told that I was not entitled to the manual and warranty because A Plus Medical Supply keeps the information and if I need anything, I would contact them, so I don't understand how "this works". I had to report to Academy Orthotics and Prosthetics several times that I did not want any calls from A Plus Medical Supply before I stopped getting calls as of two days prior to this complaint.

I am still left with a chair that I cannot use because it worsens my conditions and I believe that A Plus Medical Supply is scamming customers and their insurance by preying upon naivete of the process for obtaining medical equipment, displaying flagrant disrespect and intimidation for clients to accept their behavior.Desired Settlement: I would like to see the following take place as a result of the negligence, flagrance and harassment of A Plus Medical Supply:

1. Full refund to my insurance for any and all costs of the chair , delivery services and all other applicable charges

2. A Plus Medical Supply is to pick-up the chair currently in my possession and pay for the costs to ship it back to their store

3. No further business with A Plus Medical Supply store

4. Academy Orthotics and Prosthetics provide me with a new vendor under their contract and free accessories for the new chair given my extensive troubles and hardship on my medical condition as a result of their subcontractor behavior.
