Review: I bought a 2001 Toyota Corolla from [redacted] at A Quality Motors. [redacted] had advertised this car on Craigslist as a car that is in great condition that runs great. At the time that I was considering this purchase at the lot on 3/16/13 [redacted] stated to myself and a witness who was there with me that this is a "great car." When I asked [redacted] if there were any mechanical problems with the car he said there were not any problems. I took the car for a test drive on 3/16/13, and it seemed to run well so I bought it on 3/17/13. I paid the amount you would pay for this car if it were in top condition at a price of $4700 total including taxes and dealer fees.Upon taking the car off the lot after I purchased it, one day after I test drove it, I noticed that the engine was making a rattling noise. As I continued driving the car I also noticed a wheel noise when I turned left. The next time I got paid was 4/10/13 so I took the car into be inspected by a mechanic near my home on 4/10/13. The mechanic called me about the inspection he had done on the car on 4/11/13. He stated that the car's engine rod bearings are burned up and the car requires a new engine, the car's back brakes need to be replaced immediately, that the brakes up front need to be replaced soon, and that the car needs a new left wheel bearing. The total of these repairs would be around $3100. The mechanic put all of these needed repairs in writing. Furthermore the mechanic stated that the dealer sold me an unsafe car, and the dealer must have put in thicker oil or larger rod bearings on the engine to mask the engine noise upon test drive. Also I checked tires on the car and the pressure was low. On the test drive the car had almost zero gas so it was impossible to take it on the freeway. I requested that [redacted] at A Quality Motors refund the cost of the car because the car needs extensive repairs that he did not inform me about, and because the car is unsafe to drive. [redacted] refused to make a refund and refused to give his last name.Desired Settlement: I would like [redacted] at A Quality Motors to refund the full cost of the vehicle at $4700.
