A. R. Bothers Woodworking Inc. Reviews (1)
Review: My husband and I ordered kitchen cabinets last year - 2013. We received the cabinets and my husband hung and completed the kitchen himself. After only a few weeks the cabinet finish started cracking and peeling. We were told to take the doors off that needed fixing but we would have to wait until after Thanksgiving to do this. My husband brought the cabinets back to be re-done two weeks before Christmas (mid December 2013). We still do not have all cabinets back. Cabinets were sent to (or so we were told) to mfg. in North Carolina to see if there was a defect in the product that was used to coat the doors. It took months and finally we were told that the company said there was no defect so would not replace. They said they had to strip down the doors and re-do. They said the mfg said too many coats were applied by them but they believe this was not true but could do nothing about it. They did not have this equipment to strip down our doors so would send out to Raritan. When my husband went to place in Raritan to check three weeks later the cabinets were still not there..... Finally we were given doors one by one and each time something new was wrong. Today we found that on most recent door we got back the finish was applied over dust and lumps were all within the design. I am just sick over this. I waited 20 years for my kitchen cabinets. These cost us over $15,000. My husband lost his temper today with them and they promised to finish by tomorrow. I do not know how this is even possible - the cabinets are a mess - we are still missing 4-5 cabinet doors in our kitchen - my kitchen has been this way for over four months. We started this process over 18 months ago. Please help. I do not want anyone else to go through what we have gone through with these people.Desired Settlement: Finsh the job satisfactorily even if this means new cabinet doors - whatever it takes or remiburse us so we can have the doors fixed/replaced. We dont want anything that we are not entitled too. This has been a nightmare. Please help.
Received your letter of 4-23-14 regarding the above, and would like to respond with the following our records show that after A month or so after the cabinets were installed, there was some finish cracking on about 6-8 doors (not on any cabinets). I pointed out to [redacted] that two doors with this problem was due to excessive water damage around the sink/dishwaser area (which he acknowledged, however I could not understand the finish situation on the other doors, but would take care of these doors as well as the water damaged doors. This was done, and after A few weeks the cracking started once again on the same doors, excluding the doors that were water damaged. At this point, with the[redacted] permission, one door was sent to the finish lab in North Carolina for an analysis, which does take almost a month. I have documentation that this was done (or so we were told) The lab informed us, when they sent the door back that we in affect had built up the finish with to many mills, and recommended refinishing the doors, which we had done in Raritan, which took A few weeks, and we had to wait another two weeks for the refinishing chemicals to totally dry prior to our re staining and re-coating. This was done, and on 4-11-14 when [redacted] picked up the refinished doors with the comment "Thanks, they look great"
