A & S Garage

I purchased a 2000 [redacted] from A&S Garage for $2250 this price included a trade in of our 1994 [redacted] back in October of 2011. From the beginning we had issues with this vehicle, the first was the check engine light came on as my wife was driving off the lot to a gas station where she wasn't able to put gas in because the gas door was broken, we phoned the garage and drove it back at which point they opened the door for us to be able to gas up and we found that it was a cable that needed to be adjusted. We still need to "adjust" that on a regular basis. We also informed them at this time that the check engine light was on and we were told that the light should go off but if it doesn't to just bring it back. At the time of purchase we were told that a brand new timing belt had been installed which was false as we ended up having to replace the timing belt and water pump, it was our local mechanic who did this service and who told us these things had not been replaced. While driving on another occassion my wife and children broke down on the roadside due to a "power failure". Check engine light is still on, we phone A&S Garage they come with a flatbed truck and give my wife a "loaner" days go by we called to see what was going on with the car and were told it was ready. Check engine light is off and then came back on by the time my wife pulled into our driveway. This is going on during our 30 day warranty. By this time I phone A&S again with my concerns about the check engine light as I know I will not be able to get this car inspected if this light stays on. By this time the car itself is running alright but the check engine light stays on. Will, the owner of A&S Garage assures me that if the light doesn't go out there will be no problem with the inspection as I can just bring it back to them as "they"ll take care of me". I am on unemployment and used our last savings to purchase this vehicle, I am in no position financially to acquire another vehicle at this time. Needless to say I have been driving the car for the last 2 months with an outdated inspection sticker because after phoning [redacted] his comment was, "bring the car in and make sure you have a full tank of gas" I have no idea what that means? All that I know is I need this vehicle and I feel as though I've been scammed. I don't have the means to even make an attempt at finding a mechanic to "search out" what needs to be done to make this check engine light go out. I believe I've been sold a lemon. Amazingly, within the week that my $2250 was taken [redacted] and his family went on a vacation, lucky him!!! This car has gone back to A&S Garage at least 6 times for the check engine light and it has never been repaired. We finally had decided it was to no avail to continue to contact A&S as it was just becoming what seemed to be a "lost cause" and by this time our 30 day warranty had come and gone. Please help.
