Review: A Representative fro A Safeway Construction, Inc. came to my home and we signed a contract on Tuesday, June 4, 2013. He was supposed to Clean my chimney, cap it, clean my fireplace, tear down existing stairs in front stairs of my house, rebuild them and install a new stair next to the sidewalk and also they would get the building permit. They stated that the total job would cost $4,000.00. I gave them a $2000.00 deposit in the form of a check. They told me that the permit process would take several days so they would begin work as soon as they received the permit. I was at work on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 and I received a call from my 11 year old stating that she was looking out of the window and there were guys from A safeway Construction, Inc. tearing down my stairs. I asked her if they put a sign on my window or requested to put it in the front window of the house. my older daughters also checked and they saw nothing. I immediately called the Township of Bloomfield to see if this company had filed for a building permit. I was told at that time that an inspector had already driven by my home, stopped them from building the stairs and put a orange Do Not Construct Sticker near my mailbox. Additional I was told that I had a summons. My children told me that the guys left my rot iron railings throne in the front yard with bricks and concrete everywhere and it was a disaster. I called them and told them to clean up their mess because I did not want my family or neighbors to be harmed. they gathered the brigks they tore down and put them inside

of a blue tarp. They put yellow caution tape around the area 6 stacks of sement covered in plastic and they put the railing in my backyard. The did not tear down the entire porch and rocks and bricks fall away daily. It looks like a disaster area. They still did not get a permit and I paid for a zoning permit. I was told by zoning to let them apply for the permit so that the cput a stop payment on my check.Desired Settlement: Because of the inconveience we cannot enter our front door we must go through the backyard entrance which is extremely inconvenient. I want them to get the proper permit. Tear down the remaining stairs and rebuild my stairs now for a lesser cost due to the inconvenience and on a payment plan. if not I will take them to court and will file a lawsuit against them and they will then fix them for free.

Review: We utilized the services of A Safeway in Feb 2012 as we were experiencing water coming in from the chimney area. When A Safeway inspected, I was told I needed a new chimney/liner and a cap. They rebuilt the exterior portion of the chimney and placed a cap on top. Several months later, the chimney leaked. They came back and advised they flashed. Well now I can see daylight around the chimney from my attic, it leaks when it rains and is causing damage inside my attic. Although I cannot climb on the roof myself nor would I know what to look for, I believe the chimney was never tarred nor has flashing around it. I paid them via check #[redacted] on Feb 4, 2012 in the amount of $3500. Now I can't even contact them by telephone because none of the numbers are in service.Desired Settlement: This will be the second time they would have to come out to correct the original problem. I now don't believe that there was an issue with the chimney at all other than it needed flashing and tarring.

Review: I used A Safeway Construction on 9/9/08 for chimney repair/service; they used a 5-1/2 inch aluminum liner intead of 6 ins. in addition to installing all new stove pipes, appex collar, flashing, clean fireplace, fix damper with 25 yr. warranty on material and workmanship @ $1500 paid.At this time when I've tried to locate them (they are on line also)the tel. # is not in service or 411 oper. refers me to additional companies to call; the latest # on line also not in service is [redacted] with featured services: chimneys, gutters, roofing, etc.I learned from PSEG that they could not install a water heater because the company used a 5-1/2 in. liner instead of 6 in. All I need is for A Safeway to properly install the 6 inch liner but apparently they are not in business and using a different name. I googled their name and found out that they are listed as fraudulent contractors in FairLawn-SadleBrook Patch on Yahoo's browser article dated Jan. 13, 2013.Desired Settlement: I would like for a reputable chimney repair company to remove the wrong size liner and replace it with the six inch liner required and to have same inspected at cost to A Safeway Construction and/or reimbursement of same for service required. Thank you.
