October 1, Mr& Mrs [redacted] I am acknowledging your letter I received and feel there is nothing more I can do satisfy your requestsThe new [redacted] system was installed properly based on my 20+ years of experience and detailed information from the manufacturer’s representativeThe installation manual does state that the return air duct should be installed on both of the sides or bottom of the furnace because the furnace comes from the factory with a 5-ton blower assemblyThe system is installed as a 3-ton system, requiring the maximum air flow of CFMThe cut out of the return duct is allowing CFMBringing the return in the bottom of the unit or both sides will not change the run time of the unitThe house has always been comfortable and reached temperatureThe initial concern brought to my attention was that you felt the unit ran too muchIt was determined that the thermostat was being set back or set a higher temperature (degrees) while you were at work and then turned back down when you returned homeDue to the high ambient temperature and the high humidity levels at this time the unit did run until it recovered temperatureThe setback was reduced to two degrees setbackYou still felt the unit ran too muchI returned and checked system, again finding no issues with the performance of the systemIt was determined the new thermostat installed with the new system was off about two degreesI purchased a new, more expensive thermostat and installedAgain you expressed your concerns about the run time of the unitI returned again and checked the operation of the systemThe system again checked out as operating properlyI did relocate the thermostat and thermostat wire to the center of the house on this visitYou still felt the unit was not operating properlyThe request I received was to start up the heat and you would get a second opinion from a friendI returned and started the heat up at that time and still found no issues with the systemOn start up, I had a degree superheat and degree temperature drop across the coil during cooling, as well as each time I checked the systemI had a degree temperature rise (on a degree day) and a gas pressure of 3.5” WC in heatI contacted [redacted] technical support as well as the manufacturer’s representative and explained your concerns several timesI provided details of the installation as well as the readings I recorded on startup of the equipmentThe response I was given was, “A perfectly designed system with the thermostat set at degrees on a degree day will run non-stop to maintain the degree set pointThere are no issues with the installation or the equipment.” I have received repeated phone calls and texts that I feel have turned from a concerned customer to harassmentI honestly feel threated at this pointI stated before I began the work that I would stand behind my work and have done soThe system was installed properlyI have gone over and above to try to meet your satisfaction and will not be returning to complete any additional workThe equipment has been registered with [redacted] for the year parts warranty which can be provided to you by any contractorThank you, Bob R [redacted] Lake Effect Mechanical, LLCOH License #
