A Somers Day Spa Reviews (3)

Review: I had gotten hair extensions done by this salon that were promised to be the top of the line. What ended up actually happening when I got them done was 1.They did not match the color they ordered accurately to my hair. 2. The texture was way too think and coarse for my hair and looked like horsehair glued onto the entire bottom of my hair 3. The extentionist BURNT the tops of my hair and the keratin beads that you attach the hair to my hair with- so instead of blending in and being tan- I had black spots all over my head of burned hair and received extensive damage to my hair. When I talked to the manager about how I paid over $1200 for this service and my hair no looked way worse than before I had it done- he said he would speak to the owner- [redacted]. I had to call back twice before I heard what the outcome of that conversation was. When the he told the owner everything she said that she was not going to refund me for the extensions and if I wanted to get them taken out that they were going to charge me for them!! Then proceeded to say that I could have a meeting with a different Extentionist so that she could "check" their work. I had the appointment with the other stylist to show her what was wrong- even though I know they had told her to not agree with me at all beforehand so she downplayed absolutely everything they had done to ruin my hair and made excuses for it all. The next evening I got an unexpected call from the owner who also put the stylist who did my hair on speaker phone with her when she called- very awkward, uncomfortable and extremely unprofessional for her to do that by the way- and proceeded to scream at me for all the "complaints" I had been making instead of calling to work things out with me and see what she could do to help. She was extremely rude, confrontational, and absolutely not interested in putting the customer first in any way. She did not apologize at all for the damage done to my hair or about how stressful this situation has been this past week- she just made excuses and yelled at me like I was the crazy one. It got so out of hand- I had to end the call with telling her how unprofessional she was and hung up. She had no desire to help me in any way. I have never filed a complaint about any other business in my life- but that was way more than any customer should have to go through. You don't call a customer- at her home ever- to yell at them about how they are dissatisfied about your service...completely disgusting, immature and not at all professional. I DO NOT recommend this salon at all unless you are willing to have damage done to you in any of their services and then not be taken care of at all!!! STAY FAR AWAY!!!! The owner only cares about one thing- MONEY and that is it.Desired Settlement: I want to be not only refunded for the horrible service that I had done but also apologized to for the absolute horrible way I was treated...no one ever deserves to go through what I went through this week...it was so unfair and extremely unprofessional to be dealt with the way I was simply because their salon could not deliver what they had promised to. Taking responsibility for your errors, making them right and putting the customer first is good business- this place needs to learn that. People will find out you do not care about them and all you care about is money and it will hurt your business if you don't change the way you operate.

Good morning,Apparently there was a complaint filed a few weeks back with the Revdex.com regarding our practices. This email went to our spam folder and only gets cleaned out monthly so I apologize for the delay. The only thing I have to say about this complaint is the client and her husband (who filed the complaint) are more than welcome to come in to sit and talk with the stylist and myself for two reasons. The stylist should be part of the conversation since he was the one performing the services and should be there to defend any accusations made against him. The second reason to invite them into our facility is to review the actual text messages that transpired between the stylist and his wife where she indicated just a few hours after her service was completed that she loved her hair and just wanted to "tweak" it slightly, i.e., trim. She was suppose to come in the very next morning, approximately 12 hours later. She not only did NOT show up for her appointment but she proceeded to visit a "friend" as she described to me, the very next morning instead to CUT AND COLOR her hair:.Now she is very unhappy with the results and wants us to refund her the money? That is very presumptuous as I would never consider taking my business somewhere, wanting to come back for a touch up (and we bent over backwards to accommodate her coming in the very next morning on a busySaturday) then decide to go elsewhere, have them completely mess up my hair and then expect to back to the original business for ANY kind of refund! In a nutshell, we were more than happy to still have her come in to try and fix what someone else then did to her hair but she was unwilling.

I am rejecting this response because: The owner of this salon is absolutely false and lying to try to cover up so that she doesn't have to take responsibility for the work that was done by her employee. I have proof in pictures as to what my hair looked like when I left and the burnt black beads all over my head!! I never said I was happy with my hair in text messages- I said that I loved the stylist as a person but I didn't like what he did to it at all...who would like burnt beads in their hair, horse like hair texture and a cut done that the stylist said " was the best he could do"?? No one in their right mind would go back to a salon to have the same stylist fix their hair who ruined it in the first place. I had to pay a NEW STYLIST to do what needed to be done so that I didn't look absolutely embarrassing! They didn't ruin my hair- Somers Day Spa did. The owner had me meet with a different stylist to go over what happened to my hair and they just talked to me like I was an it and didn't care at all. No one at this salon cares about the clients at all- it's all about the money. How do you spend $1222 at a salon- leave with damaged, hideous hair and then try to work something out with the owner who in the end couldn't care less about what happened to you??!! She is lying so that he salon doesn't look bad- I feel sorry for her and for all the clients to come that get their hair ruined by this place.

Sincerely,

Review: I puchased a gift certificate 2 weeks ago for my daughter who is a client there, and she accidently threw it away while in the process of moving. I have the receipt with the gift certificate #, and they know it has not been used but the refuse to honor it, or even just give her a credit of a less amount. They have her name and gift certificate # in their computer. I asked nicely if they could help us out with this issue explaing what happend and Kim the manager refused. She said she needs the hard copy, even though I have the certifciate #.

I am looking just for a replacement. ( Although I wouldn't mind a refund, seeing the way they handled this issue.)

We are very sorry [redacted]'s daughter can not find her gift certificate. It has always been our policy that a lost or stolen gift certificate can not be replace or refunded. Our gift certificates are like cash, much like a gift card from Macy's or any other store. Our website clearly states we are not responsible for lost or stolen gift certificates. We regret a dispute has a been brought against us but our policies are stated so no wrong doing has been done on our part. Thank you for your understanding.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT ACCEPT the response from the business.)

I know their policy, but we have the certificate # and they do too. My daughter has been a loyal client to them. I was hoping they would understand during her move it was thrown away by mistake. I am very unhappy with their decision.

We did state our position. We stand by our policy that the Somers Day Spa is not responsible for lost or stolen gift certificates. There is nothing we can offer.

Thank you
