Facility is not secure, fence gets cut, vehicles broken into and damaged, no cameras to watch vehicle storage area and they do not notify you when vehicles are damagedWhich leaves you no recourse but to turn it over to your insurance because they do not do their jobs by checking on your vehicle daily They just want your money and feel they have no responsibility but to provide you a parking spaceIf you value your items do not use this place!!!
Review: Dear Sirs,,
I write to you today on an urgent matter that includes deceptive business practices and on behalf of my deceased father in law, a decorated veteran of the korean war. I am also a veteran of the USAF.
On 4/13/2013 we entered into a contract to have our possessions stored upon a recent move. We got a shed at the new place to bring many of the stored items to our new abode. Everything was going along just fine, except when my Father in Law passed away 07/15/2013. Along with his passing, we lost almost all of our monthly income. Prior to his passing, we started to bring things from storage to our place. We were current on our monthly payments for the storage unit until 08/01/2013 when I informed the Storage place of his passing and our inability to be current due to financial hardship. We were going their nearly daily to get stuff out and into the shed.
On 08/11/2013 we went there to get more items and found our unit "overlocked" and we were denied access. When reading the Contract there is no provision allowing them to lock us out, with the claim they did so to "maintain order and protect security" of the premises. Upon many attempts to rectify and get an explanation of why they did this, in writing, my emails have gone unanswered. The only thing we can think of is they saw us moving things out of the unit and locked us out.
There are many items of value, and some that are momentos (pictures) and things that cannot be replaced, most importantly my Father in Laws Military Medals he received in the Army, most noteworthy his Purple Heart.
I am currently under the care of an Oncologist for melanoma, along with multiple other medical/mental issues. My wife is a type 1 diabetic, with many related health issues that are know as co-morbidities. I work with two online Organizations fighting for diabetes awareness.
We maintain there are illegal and deceptive business practices that have and continue to be going on.
Of course, we would love to have been able to pay and get all our items out, but cannot fathom the idea of losing his Medals and our Pictures.
We hope and pray you can be of help in this matter, if even to ensure that they do not do this to others. I am running out of options as we look for help.
Thank you in advance for your time.
Sincerely,
[redacted] R. [redacted]Desired Settlement: Honor the Contract and stop the auction of our belongings.

Dear [redacted],
I’m writing this letter to clear a complaint brought on by Mr. [redacted]
Regarding A Storage Place – business procedure at [redacted] St [redacted], CA [redacted]
Mr. [redacted] rented space [redacted] on April 3, 2013. Mr. [redacted] signed a legal contract, rules and regulation and insurance addendum.
Upon rental on April 3, 2013 I [redacted] explained our company procedures and policy.
Here is the following company procedures and policy information I explained to Mr. [redacted].
The rent is due on 3rd of every month A Storage Place gives our customer’s a 10 days grace period to pay their rent, on the 11th day a late fee 20.00 or 15% of rent will apply and the access to the property is denied to the rental space until amount owed is paid in full. Additional late fees if rent is not paid 28 days after the rent becomes due 20.00 pre-lien late fee + letter is sent to customer, additional late fees 41 days still no payment is rec’d 25.00 notice of lien late fee will apply + letter sent to customer, and after 60 days 150.00 auction fee + letter is sent to customer warning of auction date. Mr. [redacted] did sign , initial and agreed to the contract procedures. I have called Mr. [redacted] and sent emails regarding amount owed to A Storage Place.
I have also included the following emails showing I have tried to make deals with Mr. [redacted] to pay a lesser amount then amount owed and vacate space, Mr. [redacted] response “no can not afford funds or will have to get back to you and checks on funds”.
I would like for this complaint to be removed due Mr. [redacted] did receive a couple of items out of unit per channel 10 news request, with no payment received from Mr. [redacted]. I feel this complaint has no merit and Mr. [redacted] knew the company policy and procedures.
Thank you,
Manager

Response:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Our Storage unit was locked illegally and contents sold at Auction.
