A Striking Image was hired to clean an apartment for a moveout on 11/3/ We completed the work and the carpet came out looking like a new carpet On about 11/9/16, we receive a call from *** *** to see if we can go back and clean the carpet for pet urine When they called
they did not say the carpet was not clean or smelled like mildew but they stated PET URINE SMELL We told them A Striking Image was paid to clean the carpet not to treat for pet urine, but we would be happy to go back and assess whether it was a cleaning issue or a pet urine smell issue On 11/10/16, we went to the *** *** and to get a key to the apartment The manager said they had to go with us So I, the owner of A Striking Image along with the manager of *** Realty, went to the apartment On entering the apartment, the manager and I detected a urine smell I told the manager that I was going to use a BLACKLIGHT to check for urine spots During the blacklight inspection, several urine spots were discovered, particularly in the hallway As a final test, I got down on my knees to smell those areas to confirm the pet urine smell After this inspection, I called the tenant which was a lady to see if she could meet me at the apartment She said she was busy but was going to send a gentleman to meet us When the gentleman arrived, we went to the ***'s office to get a key The ***'s manager went with us to open the apartment since they could not just give us the key When all of us entered, the gentleman said that he did not smell any urine I showed him with the BLACKLIGHT where the urine spots were He said he could not see them and the he had read online that ***s was going to try to change him for things on move out He then left *** *** has been in the rental business for over years so they have seen a lot of empty move out apartment They know the difference from mildew/musky and pet urine A Striking Image have been in business for over years and also deal with pet urine issues regularly in cleaning We also do water damage, so we are familiar with apartments and houses being wet and those associated smells This apartment did not have a musky smell from being wet to long.The tenant paid us to clean the carpet and did not pay us to treat for pet urine which could be under the carpet in the padThe carpet cleaning came out great with *** Realty not saying anything about an unclean carpet If the tenant will also look at their cleaning receipt, we specify state we do not guarantee pet urine stains or odor If they have lost it, we could provide a copy of if The tenant may have been unaware the the pet was having accidents and as to being a veteran, this is the first I have heard of it but thank you for your service to our country
