Dear Revdex.com.
It is and has always been our policy that if we arrive on
site to do an inspection and cannot perform the inspection through no fault of
our own there is a $150.00 minimum service call fee. This is clearly stated on
the last line in bold letters on our...

pricing page.
Although we try to keep our web site as current as possible
we did have a price change due to economic conditions. This price change did
not hit our web site yet. [redacted] was notified of this change at the time
she booked her inspection.  She accepted
the change and booked the inspection at our new rate.  There was a 2 week wait for the inspection and
at no time did [redacted] call to cancel or to express any displeasure about
our new rate.
We did show up early for our scheduled appointment time on
September **, 2014. Her agent, who until that day we did not know, meet or have
any dealings with what so ever, was almost an hour late. We still waited for
him to arrive and planned on doing the inspection. Upon his arrival, we walked about
200 yards from one parking lot to the other where the unit was located. We
waited for an additional 20 minutes only to find out that we would have no
access to the unit due to the agent not bringing the door code with him.
At that time we informed our client that we would have to
reschedule when access could be obtained. We also asked for the minimum service
call fee of $150.00, but that as a gesture of good will we would be willing to
split this with her. She became extremely arrogant and combative, arguing that
we should get it from the agent. We explained to her we could not receive or
transfer any money between our company and any agent as this could be viewed as
a conflict of interest or some kind of a payoff. If she wanted, she could
petition the agent to pay her back. She accepted our explanation and willingly
paid us the fee. We at A-Tech Inspection Services do absolutely NO marketing to
agents what so ever. We do not visit offices; we do not give pads, pens, candy
or any type of benefit to any agents. We are the only inspection company that
does not visit offices in order to avoid any perceived conflicts of interest.
On September **, 2014, when we completed our inspection [redacted]
[redacted] paid us our previously agreed upon fee with no complaints about our
service call fee or our inspection fee. We also stayed and walked the grounds
with her to show her the laundry facility on the grounds and such. As we were
walking to the car her agent asked me if I would be willing to waive the
original $75 service call fee in return for more work in the future.  He was trying to save her, or himself, the
money, apparently not knowing she had already paid the fee. I explained to him
that I had already been paid the fee by [redacted] at the previous
appointment and that he should be responsible for paying her back the service
call fee since it was due to his negligence. [redacted] misunderstood what
was said, and thought I agreed to refund him the fee in exchange for more work.
She became arrogant, belligerent, and nasty before her agent even knew that she
had already paid us the fee. She was so enraged that she couldn’t understand
what was being said. I told [redacted] and [redacted], for the third time,
that I could not give him any money and he needed to make the payment to
her.  I told him I would be willing to
give him a discount coupon for his next client, but I never agreed to be
involved in any type of refund. There was never a refund promised to [redacted]
[redacted] or [redacted] by our company, or me, of the service call fee, nor where
we involved with any dealings with [redacted], financial or otherwise.
We were however notified by the broker owner of [redacted] Realty
that the $75.00 fee had been returned by the agent via [redacted] to [redacted] shortly
before we received notification of this complaint. So it appears that [redacted]
[redacted] is asking us to reimburse her for a fee that she has already been
reimbursed for by her agent.
All this being said, we do and will always, honor our 100%
guarantee to our clients. If for any reason they are unhappy with our services
a full refund of the inspection fee paid will be refunded prior to the
completed report being emailed. The service call fee cannot be refunded as we
did wait an hour and 20 minutes the first day.
We will be retuning the original money order for $210.00 that [redacted]
[redacted] paid with. This will end our involvement, our business relationship,
our obligation to furnish the completed report, and any and all obligations of
any kind of performance or consultation with [redacted].  This will also make our contract with [redacted]
null and void. The refund of her inspection fee is not in any way an acceptance
of culpability, negligence, or wrongdoing on our part.
We feel that [redacted] is wrongly directing her anger at
us, and is mistaken in her accusations of misconduct on our part. Therefore we
respectfully request that the entire frivolous complaint, claim, matter and her
comments be stricken from any record on the Revdex.com database due also in part to
our spotless 14 year record.

All and all, I am disgusted but not surprised by many of the outlandish and unfounded allegations in the response, but will be satisfied with the full refund and end of contractual obligations. Review: A Home Inspection was scheduled for September **, 2014 at 1:00pm. The Inspector arrived early, I arrived and was parked 2 minutes early, However the [redacted] had forgotten about the appointment and after calling him he admitted as much and said he would be a few minutes. However, the [redacted] did not arrived until 30 minutes later and upon arriving at the unit, the [redacted] did not remember nor have with him the combo box code to retrieve the unit keys. In all it was upwards of 45-50 minutes that was wasted due to the [redacted]'s unprofessional behavior. The [redacted] then announced some sort of fee that would need to be paid for coming out but not doing any work. He stated that the fee was $150 but that he would slash it by 50%. There is no such policy or fee on the A-Tech Home Inspection website (of which I can provide a PDF copy of his entire website). No such policy was told to me upfront and lead me to believe later that this was a fee he made up on the fly. Never-the-less, I argued that I should not have to pay the fee since I was on time and that the entire fault fell on the unprofessional [redacted]. The [redacted] agreed that it was his fault and stated that he would pay the $75 fee but A-Tech Home Inspections refused to take money from him citing that it would be bad business practice and could be perceived as a Conflict Of Interest to exchange money between the Inspector and the [redacted]. I inevitably ended up paying the $75 fee and rescheduled the Home Inspection for September **, 2014 at 5:00pm. At which time, I showed up 30 minutes early, the inspector was early as well and the [redacted] showed up just on time. We were able to get the inspection done and I paid the agreed upon Home Inspection fee ($210) - (which is another issue - the $210 fee is listed on the website for a 2 bedroom coop, but my inspection was for a 1 bedroom coop) but I add this only as an additional insight to the lack of ethics involved with this company. After the inspection, the [redacted] asked the [redacted] if he could waive the $75 fee in exchange for more business from [redacted]. The [redacted] not only agreed, but offered to refund the money directly to the [redacted]. This apparent Bribe and Conflict of Interest incensed me and I immediately objected and voiced my disapproval. The [redacted] had NEVER reimbursed me for the $75 that he verbally committed to pay. Yet, he was waiving the fee in exchange for more business and being offered the $75 refund that rightfully should have gone directly to me since I am the one who paid the $75 fee on September **, 2014. I had to argue with the [redacted] for what seemed like 5 - 10 minutes about the lack of ethics in this transaction. Upon my fury in the situation, [redacted] cited a "miscommunication" and that he would refund me directly. I still have not received my refund. I have also called the [redacted] Real Estate Associate Broker to explain the situation. Although, she is looking into the matter, I have reason to suspect based on our conversation this morning, that any findings would be biased based on the nature and work connection to the [redacted]. You can expect another report filed on [redacted] in the coming days if such is the case.Desired Settlement: I think this unethical behavior should be duly noted in the ratings of this business. Bribery, Conflicts of Interest, Collusion, Attempts to take advantage of the buyer, Unscrupulous business practices at the buyer's expense. A-Tech Home Inspections deserves a negative rating and a caution to all seeking Home Inspection Services to BEWARE.

Response:

Dear Revdex.com.

It is and has always been our policy that if we arrive on

site to do an inspection and cannot perform the inspection through no fault of

our own there is a $150.00 minimum service call fee. This is clearly stated on

the last line in bold letters on our pricing page.

On September **, 2014, when we completed our inspection [redacted] paid us our previously agreed upon fee with no complaints about our

service call fee or our inspection fee.

There was never a refund promised to [redacted] or [redacted] by our company, or me, of the service call fee, nor where

we involved with any dealings with [redacted], financial or otherwise.

We were however notified by the broker owner of [redacted] Realty

that the $75.00 fee had been returned by the agent via [redacted] to [redacted] shortly

before we received notification of this complaint. So it appears that [redacted] is asking us to reimburse her for a fee that she has already been

reimbursed for by her agent.

We will be retuning the original money order for $210.00 that [redacted] paid with.

It has been brought to my attention some time after I filed this report that the [redacted] had reimbursed the $75 fee after previously informing me that he would choose an alternative method of payment. So I was not readily aware of the fact that he had actually paid. All and all, I am disgusted but not surprised by many of the outlandish and unfounded allegations in the response, but will be satisfied with the full refund and end of contractual obligations. However, due to my prior experience with A-Tech, I would have to wait until the $210 fee is actually refunded and accounted for before counting this matter resolved. Please remit the refund in the amount of $210 via [redacted] to [redacted].

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has not yet resolved.
