Review: To Whom It May Concern:

The fall of 2013 the above mentioned contractor, despite some delay, completed the construction of a garage on my property. By the time it was completed and I was able to get a contractor out to landscape and put a sidewalk in, we started to have our cold winter set in. The colder it got, the more difficult it was to lock the utility door on the garage. I finally informed [redacted] of the problem and he stated he'd be out that Friday. He never showed up, never called, and never made an effort to reschedule. By that time we were in full winter mode and the freezing weather. I also noted water infiltration along the foundation. Because of the winter I knew little would be done so I waited until spring came.

Prior to calling [redacted] again, I asked that the building inspector from Milwaukee come out and recheck it as it related to the door and water infiltration. He blamed it on the exceptionally cold winter and that such a case is very rare that the frost line would extend to six feet. I then called the contractor to ask him to come out and fix the door. He did return the call but made no effort to set up a time. I returned his call and, again, no return call or response. I followed that up with a certified letter telling him he had one more chance to cure the problem. That letter went out the beginning of May and as of this date I have received no response from him. In the letter I had requested May 19th at 3:00pm as an appointment date and time which would have given him at least a week and a half prior notice by the time he received the letter.

I cut this contractor a lot of slack in the beginning and throughout the construction of the garage. What I expect is a professional attitude and behavior to go along with good customer service. The only thing I had requested was to fix the utility door so my garage would be secure and he totally failed to accommodate that simple task. If he refuses to do that then I can only wonder about something more. As far as I'm concerned your rating of this business is grossly

misleading.

Sincerely,

every once in awhile you get a customer you just can't make happy. This was the guy .from the start the guy was telling my excavator to leave more dirt then I told him to. which meant that we could not fill the foundation with stone.my subs do things the way I want them done for a reason, this guy sat in watched everything the whole way through !which I don't have a problem with.we waterproofEd the wall with a waterproof membrane, despite the dirt being backfilled instead of stone.we catch him left in the season And was trying to get him to do early spring. He even tried to kick me off the job and not pay me because my garage door company [redacted] was one day late installing the door.he then called the inspector to complain that water was running under the door because he did not do any of his grading that he was supposed to do to his yard.but the inspector called me and told me that he would stand behind me that everything I did was above and beyond requirements.he interfered with my concrete guy, my electrician and my excavator trying to get them to do things differently than we discussed and what we agreed upon he was trying to get things for free too much.I don't want to be mean but I think he's lonely and just trying to find something to do and complain about.I didn't go back because I didn't want to deal with him anymore.if you would just Grade out the yard he would no longer have a water issue.I am really sorry but every once in awhile you have to just walk away I don't like to do that

Response:

Dear Sir:

Thank you for forwarding the said company's response to my complaint. Though it was a bit disjointed at times and lacked some coherency at others, I did get the gist of [redacted]'s response, his rationale for his actions, and the obvious nature of how he does business. I will try to address the items [redacted] states in his defense.

The excavator originally took out dirt for the foundation based upon [redacted]'s faulty instructions. According to the instructions they had from him there was to be only a four foot apron/approach to the garage. It was necessary for me to bring out the contract and show them exactly what it said. [redacted] had been called by them and we discussed it and they verified to him that it said there was a five foot approach. They corrected it and took out the additional dirt necessary and placed it further into my yard. Had I not been there to watch what was going on from the start, the garage would have been built in a manner not consistent with the contract. If [redacted] thinks I'm a hard nose then he should give thought to the lawsuit I would have filed had I seen the project fail to meet the contract plan. It was precisely the fact that that occurred as well as how the whole project evolved that I felt a need to

observe the entire project.

As to the project itself, he was supposed to tell me two weeks before his planned start so I could rent a container to store the garage contents in while the garage was being built. He failed to do that and I had to scramble to get one delivered in time for me to move the items to the container. He was also supposed to start the project before the end of August and didn't do that either. In fact, he delayed the construction deliberately to appease another customer that whined about having to wait for him to complete my garage. These delays caused me to have to pay for the container an extra month.

He did put on membrane around the foundation backside and along a small portion of the other sides. And, yes, he then backfilled with dirt instead of stone which I helped him to do. His claim that interfered with his electrician is wholly bogus. The guy was supposed to call me so I could tell him what I wanted him to do inside the garage. When he didn't, I hired another electrician to do the work that I wanted done. [redacted] had that as a separate charge on the contract so it was no loss to him or I. Due to the delay in starting and the extended length of time to complete the project, before I could do anything about the landscaping I had to wait for the inspections to be completed. Once I knew that it passed the construction and electrical inspections I sought out landscapers to do the work necessary as well as complete a sidewalk along the one side of the garage to the alley. Because of their schedules no one was available to start immediately. The one guy I was going to have do the work wouldn't have been able to start it when we suddenly started to get our freezing weather. He suggested I wait until Spring. As you know, the Winter and Spring have been unusual and I'm back to trying to get the work scheduled. Not once did I ever ask anyone to do anything for free. For those who wanted, I supplied coffee and water. His excavator accidentally cracked. one of the slabs from the sidewalk to the alley that didn't need to be dug out for the foundation. Though I could have asked him to replace it I didn't because I as going to redo the whole sidewalk anyway due to the location of the garage and its utility

door.

I'm attaching pictures of the water in the garage during the winter. In addition, pictures of the door show that I is slightly misaligned from top to bottom. At some point near the beginning of the winter freezing I began to have trouble locking the utility door. I called [redacted] and he said he would be out that Friday However, he never showed. I waited for several weeks and sent him a letter and got no response. he deadbolt did lock to a small degree and I figured that if the framing shifted for some reason that nothing could be done until things thawed. So I waited. I called him again and he returned the call which I missed, and, then I returned that call. His call was after the inspector was called out so I

could find out why the water leaked and why I had the problem with the utility door. One's natural inquiry would be, did it have anything to do with the construction? [redacted]'s call to me only chided me for calling the inspector. He made no attempt to return my second call and come to fix the door.

Shortly after that I sent him a certified, return receipt letter complaining about the door and his lack of response. It was my final attempt to allow him to make good on his contract and workmanship. His response was to ignore the letter and let it sit at the Post Office. The letter and receipt card were recently returned to me, intact, sealed, as it had been sent.

It was I who informed [redacted] that I would have to pay by credit card and it was I who informed him of a service he could use with his cell phone. It was also I who offered to pay his "fee" for the charge which cost me over $400 more than the original contract. It was I who bent over backward to give this guy an opportunity to do the contract in part because his son is a vet and I am one also. On a positive note, he did put in my old garage door opener on the new door at no charge for his labor. I will be getting the landscaping done and the new sidewalk work done before the end of summer.

Since the ground thawed there has been no water in the garage, yet. Once the landscaping and French drain are done let's hope [redacted]'s statement that it'll solve the water problem is correct. As for the utility door, since he refuses to make good on his workmanship warranty, I did what I could to get the latch opening on the strike side more in alignment with the latch. It currently seems to hold and the dead bolt seems to also go all the way in without catching, allowing for a more secure door. [redacted] might also want to know that his crew isn't as loyal as he thinks. When they realized I thought he was going to also do a patio for me, but didn't tell them, they offered to come back on their own to do it. They even gave me their card and told me not to say anything and they'd give me a good price. Though [redacted] was the low bidder I think belatedly I should have paid an extra one or two thousand for a more honorable contractor. The really sad thing is that people have asked me who did my garage and I couldn't in good conscience refer him. He lost six referrals so far due to his arrogance.

Respectfully Submitted,

We love our new garage! [redacted] came up with a plan for a great garage space and patio, and worked around our beloved old maple tree, Everything was explained, organized, and on time - we coudn't be happier. Thank you!

A. Teska Construction added a 2nd story addition to my 1941 Cape Cod home. Everything they said they were going to do they did in a timely manner and with great care and professionalism[redacted] was easy to work with and always communicated with me regarding the project. I am very happy with the outcome and would recommend them to anyone who is wondering how they can update their home. It's the best money I have spent on myself and brings so much more to living in my home! Thanks [redacted]!

Teska Construction redid our roof and built our garage from the ground up. We are very pleased with the quality of the work that was performed and we would definitely recommend him as a contractor to other individuals with the same or different projects. The owner is very knowledgeable and experienced in the construction business. We got many inquiries from our neighbors about how they could contact our contractor to get quotes and/or have utilized his services since he's finished our projects. Teska Construction is reliable, professional and does quality work. Priced reasonably.

I would personally like to thank A. Teska Construction for the excellent performance on my front porch. Because of the great workmanship, reliability, and professionalism of your company, you and your staff were able to give my home a complete new "curb appeal." Besides the wonderful rapport the team had with my family and children, I was completely impressed by the dedication and rigor displayed each and every day (despite the long hours and extreme summer heat). Another quality that impressed me was the fact that this company was able to handle the high demand of volume of work and the type of work accomplished with such a few number of people. It just goes to show, when there is dedication, motivation, and endless effort, anything is possible. A. Teska Construction makes the impossible become possible. You will be more than pleased. The entire job, from the planning process through the completion, was done effectively, quickly, and was of superior quality and workmanship. Clean-up was never an issue. My yard was immaculate when the job was finished. Your pride and interest in doing the job right was noticed and greatly appreciated. I wanted to express my personal appreciation to you and your company for the truly efficient and professional manner in which my project was handled. [redacted] and his team exceeded my highest of possible expectations. I actually regret not calling him earlier. Not only will I call this company for each and every construction project I have in the future, I have also referred [redacted] to other family members (who have also been more than pleased with the results). I will never look for another contractor again. [redacted] number is safely stored in my phone for all future projects. Not only am I grateful for a job well done, I am also happy to call him a friend. It is very rare to hire someone for a job and end up calling that individual a friend. I fully recommend A. Teska Construction without any hesitation or reservation. If you are searching for honesty, quality, rapport, diligence, and persistence, you much give Aaron a call for your next project. You absolutely will not regret it!

Completely satisfied with concrete work. Job was completed on time and in a professional manner. Business owner works along side with employees to ensure quality work. Price was very competitive among 3 other bids. I highly recommend this company. I will return for future projects.

A. Teska Construction took down my old garage and built a new one. The entire job went well. [redacted] was very good at overseeing the removal of the old garage and the site preparation. The new garage went up quickly. They were very professional in their approach. The attention to detail was impressive. The entire job went smoothly and I am very pleased with the finished product.

Aaron always answered all of my questions. At every stage of the process, they always cleaned up and took away old materials and the remains of the new materials. I would recommend them for any job because of their knowledge and attention to detail.

Our project included demolition of a one car garage with slab in its entirety, and erecting a 2 1/2 car garage with approach, sidewalk, and parking slab. We began our process just like anyone else...we started calling around for bids. After 5-6 bids from other companies, we were unimpressed and discouraged. With discounted expectations, we kept on, and came accross A. Teska Construction through the Revdex.com website. From the first call to A. Teska, we were greeted with professionalism, knowledge, and with a understanding of our project(...and that was just over the phone).
When we met with [redacted](the business owner) in person, our initial excitement for our garage project returned, and we were no longer discouraged. We knew after out meeting with [redacted], he genuinely takes pride in every project he agrees to. Furthermore, we could tell from our meeting and phone calls with him that he is NOT a person who is in business to cut corners or complete a job half way.
The proposed end result of our garage and concrete project was 110% delivered in which quality, pride, and efficiency was seen every step of the way. In more ways that one, he surpassed our expectations. His knowledge, pride, and seasoned experience was seen within every inch of our project.
In working with [redacted] we discovered how stress free home construction projects can be when you hire a contractor that treats the project as if it was his own.
We are so glad we found him. We have already begun referring our friends and neighbors. We cannot thank [redacted] enough!

Was very satisfied with the job. They said what they would do and they did it in one day as promised, even in the rain!!I would definitely consider using them for future jobs on my house.

His work turned out better then we expected (deck). Fast and kept a clean work area. Had 2 minor problems. Called him in the AM and they we're there to fix them in the after noon.
