Review: Contractor [redacted] abandoned job site for about three weeks, stating that "he was overwhelmed with other job sites, and will call home owner as soon as he finds a date to finish job". The job he and his colleague did do was in the last three work visits were establishing wood boards for the new stairs the installed, BUT did not instal side rails on top of the stairs. That left a huge open gap in the top level of the stairs, which endangered my family, especially my 2 year old toddler. There have been many times that my daughter almost felt 12 feet from the top to the bottom of the stairs. I have tried to put gates protecting the open gap, but it can only do so much, that a finished stair side rail can do. I eventually fired this contractor, due to the fact that he said he doesn't know when he will be coming back to finish the job and that he left an unfinished dangerous stair gap on the top floor. About 1 month passed, and now [redacted] is demanding the reaming money due that he and his colleague did the last 3 days they were here. He also has threatened via voice mail that he will call the township and explain to them what job they did to my home, if I did not give him the money! I do not even understand this, because he disclosed to me that all the work he did was up to code, and permit was not needed to do the jobs he has done. I am very upset and disappointed at [redacted] unprofessionalism, demanding ways, threatening ways, lying, excuses, and lack of accomplishing the job; which has left a very dangerous hazard for my family, and 2 year old toddler, pertaining to the unfinished stair railing on the 2nd floor. I have not gone to the authorities yet because I didn't want legal action to be dragged through this, but since he has been consistently demanding money from us, I may have to.Desired Settlement: I would like an official complaint to be filed against [redacted], contractor, and to make sure he does not do this to any other family, or home. I also want to make sure he does not threaten me, my family, or home again, and for him to stop demanding the money he thinks he deserves, but does not.
