A to Z Construction

Review: On April 4, 2013 the representative for A To Z America Construction, [redacted], told me that they had finished my porch roof except for 2 edges near the top but they would come back and complete them. He mentioned that he had to special order them. He asked me if I would give him the remainder of the money for the job so he could pay his men that day. I wrote him a check and he promised to return and complete the job. I waited over a month and the work was not done. I called him and asked when he was going to complete my job. He said that that was months ago. I told him I had waited to give him time and had not wanted to pressure him. He said,"I've got your money now". I said I knew that he did. He then said,"If you want me to do that work it will cost you another 3 or 4 hundred dollars. I told him that I would not pay any more money for a job that I already had paid for. He began yelling at me over the phone. I told him that I would not give him any recommendation. He then hung up on me. When I tried to call him back I could not get through to him. I will have to hire someone else to complete the job. I do not want this man at my house again as I do not trust him.Desired Settlement: I want this made known to others so they do not go through what I did and have to hire someone else to complete the work. These people are not to be trusted and should not be believed for their word.

Revdex.com called business to follow up on this complaint and spoke to [redacted], owner, who responded verbally. He said the area of the porch the consumer is referring to was a corner post from where the old porch was torn down. He said the contract was for building a new porch only and did not include the area in question. He asked the consumer if there was a problem with the work they did, which was for a new porch only, and she said no.

I am rejecting this response because: He said it was a corner post. It was in fact 2 corner posts. He stood on my porch and noted that the 2 posts were not done and assured me that they would return and make sure the posts would be continued to the top so it would look nice. He told you that the contract was for building a new porch only and did not include the area in question---I feel that when they tear 2 edges off the house these should be replaced to complete the porch. Since I did not tear them off and he verbally promised me they would come back and fix them they should have been fixed. They are a part of the porch. Part of the work that was done was acceptable however I did not say there were no problems as he said I did. I just want to make sure that someone else does not have to go through what I have gone through with his not completing the job and when called he yelled at me over the phone and hung up on me. As I said before I will have to call someone to complete the job as I want nothing to do with this man or his company.
