[redacted] called us for a estimate on her tree. We looked at her work and gave her a verbal estimate, on how much it would cost. She called back and wanted us to do the work and she was told the estimator would call her back. He did and she said she wanted the work done. The...
estimator said he would put her on the list and we would do the work. We came out and did the work. When she called she said we did a good job that was fair and square. We called her for payment and she said we cracked the public sidewalk. We came out to look at it and the corner of the public sidewalk was cracked. We came out and repaired the sidewalk. We called her for payment again and she said she wouldn't pay her bill until the sidewalk was repaired and the city o.k.'d the repair and the water shut off valve was also cleared. Someone from the water department came out and told her there was no damage and it was cleared to the water shut off valve. We called her for payment and she returned call and said she had a person from the sidewalk repair department come out and told her the sidewalk was unsatisfactory, we needed a permit for repair and she would've trouble down the road. I called and spoke with the inspector that looked at her sidewalk and he told me the repair was satisfactory and we didn't need a permit for a small repair like we did. He also said he checked with his supervisor and he said it was satisfactory as far as he was concerned also. He also said he didn't tell her she would have trouble down the road. I asked for a written form with what he had told me and he said they didn't do that and he also told [redacted] that also, as she had asked for the same thing. She will not pay us she says in case down the road she has problems. How long will she live at that address? If the city o.k.'d the repair and said the water shut off valve was fine, what does holding our money for the tree work have to do with the future in case something might happen? We did the tree work for her, did a great job and we lost money. We had to pay our employees and all the expenses associated with doing the tree work at her property and she's holding our payment for the tree work we did for her, in case in the future something might happen. It's very frustrating when you do good work and you don't get paid. We've been in the tree business over 38 years and this is the first time, a complaint like this has been brought up to us.
