A. Vassallo Mechanical LLc Reviews (2)

September 3, 2015In response to the complaint filed by [redacted] on or about August 28, 2015, ID# [redacted]This A/C unit was installed in December 2013. The unit was connected to the existing drainline. As a professional follow-up, we...

returned in May 2014 to check the Freon charge as it is difficult to properly charge an A/C unit in cold weather. The [redacted] used the A/C system throughout the summer of 2014 with NO issues.
On May 28, 2015, [redacted] called to say that there was water dripping from the ceiling, presumably from the A/C. Since we were very busy with other calls and had already filled our schedule, she was told that we would be happy to come out the following morning. (May 29) At this time she was asked to turn off the A/C. [redacted] told us that she and her husband both worked and would not be available until after 4:00/ 4:30pm on the 29th.On May 29, at 4:30AM, [redacted] called to say that the water was increasing and damaging the ceiling. She was told that she would be the first service call of the day. At this time she was told again to make sure the unit was off. **. [redacted] said that either she or her husband were going to take the day off and we could come as early as possible.
Mr. Vassallo determined that the PVC drain line had cracked. This was due to the excessively cold winter. Residual water remaining in the drain line froze, causing a crack. This is usually not an issue, but we had several other homes with the same problem. NOTE: These other customer's units were not installed by A Vassallo Mech, and in several instances the drain lines had been in use for many years without problems. The PVC drain line was replaced and Mr. Vassallo told [redacted] that he added more pitch to the line, with a support, in order to prevent a reoccurrence. Homeowner was given the old PVC so she could see how/why the problem happened. ** [redacted] was e-mailed an invoice for $ 135.00, which was paid. She was advised to contact her insurance to see what may/may not be covered. While a bit more pitch in the drainline is helpful for instances like this, the unit had been draining properly for the past year+. If it had not been, the water would have collected in the drainpan, especially in humid weather when a lot of water condensated and caused the unit to shut off via the safety.
If the [redacted] were having an issue with anything else, A Vassallo Mechanical has NOT been contacted. Freon leaks and a blocked coil have been mentioned. It would seem that we should have had the opportunity to investigate and/or repair any issues in the system before being asked to be responsible for them. A blocked coil is usually the result of a manufacture defect, and could have possibly been replaced at no charge.
A Vassallo Mechanical cannot be expected to be responsible for any work that another company does without first having had a chance to see if that work was truly necessary.
We are willing to refund the [redacted] $135.00 payment.A. Vassallo Mechanical
