He was belligerent and I guess he’s on a lot of pills.  Last year the customer called me.  He was bad mouthing other pool companies.  His skimmer and pool were leaking because of the valve.  We put the cover on, which was tight, because the tight was holding part of it on. ...

You would have to pry the cover and deck to get it on.  When he called me last year, he said we had these wind storms.  Theoretically the cover wouldn’t come off.  I told him if he wanted me to fix it, he would have to pay for it.  I told him to throw me a few bucks and said that he shouldn’t have to pay anything since we closed his pool.  I said just a little bit for us making the trip out there.  When we got there to open the pool, to my amazement, the cover was still on.  Lucky for him he had no trees in the yard to ruin it.  The pool was not that bad.  I told him I was there to put chemicals in and showed him that the cover was broken, but it wasn’t our fault.  He started screaming at me so I left.  I wanted to take care of him because he is an ex-fireman, but I wasn’t going to take the abuse from him.  He started calling all the pool companies, who called me.  He told one company that we cut the cables.  I wanted to take care of him and keep his business, but he refused to pay me for the opening, when his was more difficult than most.  I was trying to give him things for free and wasn't even asking for a full service charge, just to try to help him.  I can't do the work for free since I have to pay my help.  I wanted to give him a good deal but he wouldn't calm down and then called other pool companies to bash me.
