I had a storm door that was dragging a little on the threshold. I requested a repair estimate from one of the many names Local Solutions goes under. They charge $39.99 for an estimate. Here's what I was quoted in my written estimate:
Option 1: "Adjustment, put in missing screws, tighten hinge screws." $218
Option 2: Install a pivot hinge." $535
Plus, an extra $39.99 for the service call.
I paid the $39.99 for the estimate and said thanks-but-no-thanks, but in retrospect, I feel that these prices are so far out of the realm of reasonable, that this is just running a scam to collect $39.99 for a 2-minute ridiculous estimate. My suspicions were confirmed when I went online (like I should have done beforehand) and saw that Local Solutions had many, many complaints on Revdex.com and had been charged/convicted of fraudulent business practices. I want my money back.
