After carefully researching companies to rip out and install my driveway I met with Jim from A1 Blacktop. After speaking with Jim, I was satisfied he was the contractor for the job. He answered all my questions, and his price beat all of his competition. I was very pleased with the work that was done. My driveway was big, 2240 sq. ft., and consisted of ripping the old one car driveway, along with a single car rock driveway- and widening to make a 4 car wide driveway. Jim, and his crew worked fast, and they were clean, respecting my property. Along with the installation of this driveway they installed 56 linear feet of 6x6 RxR ties to show the separation between my neighbors driveway and mine. I was very pleased with the results, and I have no complaints with Jim and his crew from start to finish- I would recommend this company to anyone who is looking to install an asphalt driveway.

Jim and his crew were wonderful. We had a 3 by 12 section that needed to still be filled. Instead of trying to short change us and peice together the patch they went back to the plant to get a full truck so they could finish correctly. Very professional. Very reliable. I would recommend A1 blacktop to everyone. Great Job!

I'm sorry you are upset by this. I only removed 3 sprinkler heads and I gave you back the six I had in my truck, you only had 3 removed so 3 out of those 6 must have been yours. I was trying to save you money so you didn't have to call a sprinkler guy in and pay him to cap off your 3 sprinkler heads...

that were going to be under the driveway. I do that work all the time for my customers. What else can I do for you to resolve this situation? I want you to be happy in the end.

A1 Blacktop called the day before the day of the job to confirm the time of their arrival. On the day of the driveway replacement they arrival early and went right to work removing the old driveway and placing the new base and blacktop. The crew cleaned up the area leaving nothing behind but a excellent new driveway.

Review: I hired them to remove and existing and install a new blacktop driveway and drain. He took $6,000 of my money and all he did was put down stone and never returned to put down the blacktop. Also stone wasn't even completely done properly and the drain that was installed is crooked and now ruined by him taping over it and never coming back to remove the tape which has now melted over the grates.Desired Settlement: I want my a full refund.

The homeowner never signed a contract to do this work. He continuously changed the work and in the end a 3 day job turned into what would be a week and a half long project. He kept changing what he wanted and did not want to pay for the additional work. I ended up removing all of the existing 5000 sq foot driveway. I graded the driveway area for the driveway sub-base installation. He changed the design of the driveway and added more square footage. Half way through the job he decided that he wanted to change the whole grade on his entire property. I told him that work had to be done before the driveway was done. I removed two foot of dirt on his entire front yard which is approximately 80,000 sq feet. He said he wanted the rest of his property graded and I told him I couldn't do it. That wasn't part of the original work and I had only priced this job for 3 days. He said he was going to hire someone to do that work and he brought in another contractor who contaminated the r-blend (crushed concrete) that I had on the jobsite with sand and re-graded the driveway sub-base that I had already done. This caused me to have to go back and re-grade the driveway sub-base work which was another day on this job that was not planned/estimated for. Then I had to buy more r-blend and then I installed all of the r-blend base for the driveway and a drain for the driveway. Throughout all this the homeowner continued to ask for changes. In the end, he paid me $6000 which covered the driveway rip up, the r-blend installation, the additional r-blend purchase, the drain installation and removal of the dirt/grading of his front property. This did not cover my operating cost of re-doing the sub-base or the extra days of fuel and labor costs. At this point, I'm in the red on this job and would be taking a loss with all of the homeowners changes. I'm in business to make money not to give it away. I gave this homeowner more than we had originally agreed upon and the work I did for him was more than his $6000 payment. I would like to cut my losses with this homeowner because we can't see eye to eye on the work he wants done and I've already lost money on this job. I gave him an estimate for the work that we agreed upon which was just his driveway, 4847 sq foot and he made this into a project on his whole yard. That is not what we agreed upon and I cannot pay for any more changes out of my own pocket anymore.

My whole experience with Jim from A-1 blacktop was professional from start to finish. He was honest about when he was going to start and complete the job. He did not request any money until the job was completed and he made sure the entire place was clean when he left. I would definitely recommend him.
