Review: I brought my car to A1 Run Rite Auto & Smog & Brake car shop in Escondido, CA for a smoke check on Feb. 17, 2014 with an advertising coupon of $17.75. But Mr. [redacted], the owner of the car shop told me that that coupon was not valid because my car was required to be tested at Star Certification location as his car shop. Then he asked me $47.75 for the smog check and e-certificate included. Unfortunately, my car failed the test due to the engine error code PO401. However, Mr. [redacted] still charged me $47.75, even no data transfer to the CA DMV server and/or e-certificate has been proceeded.
Today, Mar. 4, 2014, I made a phone call to A1 Run Rite Auto & Smog & Brake car shop, I have been told by Mr. [redacted] that he asked for $38 for the smog check plus e-certificate extra fee. Immediately, I feel I have been a victim of being mislead by an advertisement misrepresenting a service and being ripped-off by Mr [redacted].
In fact, other car shops like High Tech Auto-San Marcos Smog Certification Center, for example, they even posted clearly their ad at the entrance door that they do not charge the e-certificate if the car fails the test.Desired Settlement: I request a refund of $9.75.
