We have had a problem with getting our Dish programming set up since day one. I was told that the instillation would take place the next day. I took the day off and the technician never showed up. I called A1 satellite back and was told that they didnt know anything about it. So they would come out the next day. Once the technician came out the install was made he didnt stay to make sure that the internet was connected correctly. Over the next few days I kept calling back to get help on fixing it and was instructed over the phone. Each time I was told to do the same thing so obviously I didnt get a different result. Eventually the technician I talked to told me he would come out the next day and once again didnt come and when I called him he told me the same instructions that he told me over the previous couple days. I just gave up on that whole situation. Then I was talking to some family friends and was told that I had the option to be in a two year contract or if I paid $100 dollars that I would be able to cancel my contract whenever I wanted to if I was not happy with the service. This came as a complete surprise to me because I was never given this option and it was not printed anywhere on the contract. I was told that if I wanted Dish I had to sign up for a two year contract and that was the only way. To me that is very manipulative way to get customers for a business that preaches about awesome customer service. I called dish that day to figure out why I wasnt given that option. My first call I was put on hold for a supervisor for half an hour and then someone answered and hung up. I called back again and eventually talked to the supervisor and was told that they didnt tell people about the contract opt out choice unless the customer said they didnt want Dish for that reason. To me that is unacceptable to hide information like this especially a company that claims that it lays all the information out there for you. They claim that Direct TV hides prices and has worse customer service. I have had both Dish and Direct TV and I would say just the opposite. Direct TV is miles better then Dish in quality, customer service, and product knowledge. I was then directed to the Executive office and talked to Louis Vargas who also agreed that it was acceptable to omit information about their contract options and refused to do anything to help me. I offered to pay the $100 dollars to cancel that wasnt offered to me, I figured that since I have had Dish for maybe 2 weeks that they wouldnt be out any money. He proceeded to tell me that the only way I could cancel is if I paid $20 dollars a month for the remaining months of my contract. I believe that it is horrible business practice to hid options from your customers. The service I received from Dish themselves and A1 Satellite was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. I will most definitely not be paying for any of their services again. Dish portrays themselves to hold their employees at a higher standard than all other Satellite providers. Having worked with Dish it seems everyone from their individual retailer to the executive office is manipulative money loving crook that seems to only care about the all mighty penny, instead of the satisfaction of their customer and providing the good customer service they preach of.
