Chris M[redacted]AA automotive, Diagnostics & RepairRef: [redacted], 2000 Dodge Ram Truck Repair.ID#[redacted]This letter is to refute [redacted]s' claim about the repair. On 06/08/2015, [redacted] drove his truck to our shop. He complained of a loud noise coming from under the truck while it was running. We...

inspected the truck and found that the flex plate bolts were loose and some were missing. The flex plate is the metal plate that connects the engine to the torque converter of the transmission. The flex plate was so loose that it wobbled and struck the end of the crankshaft position sensor causing it to crack. There was a code in the computer system of the truck indicating a crankshaft position sensor fault. We cleared the codes. [redacted] was advised of all of this. My service advisor spoke with [redacted] by phone and provided him with a full estimate of the repairs ($530.00). [redacted] was told exactly what we were going to do and [redacted] authorized the repairs. We replaced the flex plate bolts and the crankshaft position sensor. We test drove the truck and did not hear any more noise from under the truck. The check engine light did not come back on.  We advised [redacted] at that time of the harmonic balancer that was coming apart. [redacted] declined to have the harmonic balancer replaced. On 06/16/2015 [redacted] returned to the shop and asked that we replace the camshaft position sensor. [redacted] told my service advisor that he had wanted it changed the first time. My service advisor apologized for any miscommunication that may have occurred. [redacted] had purchased a camshaft position sensor and asked that we install his part. We agreed to do so and gave [redacted] a written estimate, which he approved, prior to us making the repair.Again [redacted] was advised of the harmonic balancer. This balancer helps to balance the crankshaft while the engine is running and can cause an engine vibration. [redacted] was advised of this twice and both times declined the repair.EVERYTHING that was repaired/replaced on this truck was done so with [redacted]s' knowledge and approval. The flex plate bolts were loose/missing, there was damage to the crank shaft position sensor, there was damage to the harmonic balancer. [redacted] approved all repairs, except for the harmonic balancer. There is no reason to refund money for any parts or labor for repairs that [redacted] knew needed to be replaced/repaired and which he authorized.
