This is the last response I will write regarding this complaint.*** states he spoke with another mechanic about the damage to a crankshaft position sensorHe stated the mechanic said no way did the bolts break his brand new sensor. My Response: His mechanic did not see the damage*** did not ask for his old partsWe keep all parts taken from a vehicle until the customer picks up the vehicleThis is done in the event a customer wishes to see what was done. We dispose of old parts AFTER the customer has paid and left with their vehicle.*** states his truck died three times when leaving the parking lot.My response: We test drove the truck after the repairsIt drove fine, the check engine light was not onIf it had died three times when he tried to leave the parking lot, I would think he should have come right back in and told usHe drove away with no apparent problems according to my staff. It was later in the week when he called and told us he was still having a problemThe check engine light was for a different problem and was not the same code as his first one which indicated a problem with the crank position sensorApparently he had more than one issue on a truck that is years oldHe also declined the harmonic balance repair twice. All repairs were done with this customers knowledgeIf my staff said camshaft sensor and not crankshaft sensor then as I said previously it may have been miscommunication, HOWEVER, ALL parts were listed on the invoice, All items on the invoice are discussed with the customer when they pick up their vehicle and pay for the repairsALL customers have the time and the right to review the invoice before they pay.As you can see this customer was given estimates, he was advised of other problems, he was given the opportunity to see old parts, he gave authorization for the repairs that we performedI do not understand his complaintI can understand frustrations with any auto repairI have been in this business for more than yearsI am a master ASE technicianI have seen all sorts of strange things regarding problems with vehicles. This one in particular is one where bolts had come loose from a spinning flex plateSome bolts were missingThey did in fact strike and damage the crankshaft position sensor, no matter what someone else might say to the contraryWhy else would there have been a computer generated code indicating a fault with that sensor?I will not refund money for repairs that were completed and approved of by this customerI hope his vehicle continues to operate with no further issuesHe does need to get the harmonic balancer issue taken care of as that will cause more problems down the road.Thank you for bringing this to my attention as feedback is a valuable tool to use to improve any business.Respectfully; Chris M***, Owner AA automotive, Diagnostics & Repair

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:In regards to MrM*** response, I spoke to another mechanic about this & he said no way did the bolts break my brand new crankshaft sensor! And by the way AA Automotive did not offer to give me my old crankshaft sensor back!! There was no written estimate at all! It was all verbalAfter the bolt job was done his secretary called me & said they were going to replace the camshaft sensorI said ok good, because the crankshaft sensor was replaced not long ago! When I left there my check engine light was on, my truck died times trying to get out of there parking lot, and I new something was still wrongThat's when I called them & they she said they'd make it right! I had to go get my own part to make sure the right one was put in!!! I'm still asking for the part & labor for the crankshaft sensorLabor of $& Part of $160.75. MrM*** was not even there through all of this !! Thank you, *** ***

Chris M***AA automotive, Diagnostics & RepairRef: *** ***, Dodge Ram Truck Repair.ID#***This letter is to refute ***s' claim about the repair. On 06/08/2015, *** drove his truck to our shopHe complained of a loud noise coming from under the truck while it was runningWe
inspected the truck and found that the flex plate bolts were loose and some were missingThe flex plate is the metal plate that connects the engine to the torque converter of the transmissionThe flex plate was so loose that it wobbled and struck the end of the crankshaft position sensor causing it to crackThere was a code in the computer system of the truck indicating a crankshaft position sensor faultWe cleared the codes. *** was advised of all of thisMy service advisor spoke with *** by phone and provided him with a full estimate of the repairs ($530.00)*** was told exactly what we were going to do and *** authorized the repairs. We replaced the flex plate bolts and the crankshaft position sensorWe test drove the truck and did not hear any more noise from under the truckThe check engine light did not come back on We advised *** at that time of the harmonic balancer that was coming apart. *** declined to have the harmonic balancer replaced. On 06/16/*** returned to the shop and asked that we replace the camshaft position sensor*** told my service advisor that he had wanted it changed the first timeMy service advisor apologized for any miscommunication that may have occurred*** had purchased a camshaft position sensor and asked that we install his partWe agreed to do so and gave *** a written estimate, which he approved, prior to us making the repair.Again *** was advised of the harmonic balancerThis balancer helps to balance the crankshaft while the engine is running and can cause an engine vibration*** was advised of this twice and both times declined the repair.EVERYTHING that was repaired/replaced on this truck was done so with ***s' knowledge and approvalThe flex plate bolts were loose/missing, there was damage to the crank shaft position sensor, there was damage to the harmonic balancer*** approved all repairs, except for the harmonic balancer. There is no reason to refund money for any parts or labor for repairs that *** knew needed to be replaced/repaired and which he authorized
