9/1/18 Spoke with Charles Solomon via phone and received a quote to have work performed on my campground trailer. Mr. Solomon quoted me $3525.00 to install a new sliding front door, new rear door, and new trailer skirting. He stated that he would be there to perform the work on Tuesday 9/4/18 and he agreed to send me pics of the work after it was finished.
9/2/18 paid Mr. Solomon via Citibank Credit Card
9/4/18 Spoke with Mr. Solomon via text at 2:46pm for an update. He responded that it was “all good”. At 6:57pm I asked Mr. Solomon if he took any pics to send me… He responded that he had a truck go down mechanical and wasn’t able to get to my trailer. He further stated that he would have the skirting and rear door finished by Friday 9/7/18 and that he would do the front door on Monday 9/10/18.
9/7/18 No contact from Mr. Solomon
9/11/18 Texted Mr. Solomon for an update on my trailer…. He stated that “they” were down there working on the skirting of my trailer.
9/14/18 Called Mr. Solomon at 3:12pm and again at 6:26pm….. No Answer
9/16/18 Texted Mr. Solomon for an update…. No response
9/17/18 Texted Mr. Solomon requesting an update. He responded that he was unable to talk and that he has been in Florida since 9/11/18 due to a death in the family.
9/21/18 I arrived at my campground trailer to find several issues. 1) Skirting was not completed, left a large gap that allowed an unknown animal to now be living under my deck. 2) Removed my outside outlet and just left it on the ground without reattaching it. 3) Left all of the unused materials and boxes in my driveway…..and the worst 4) They turned off my electric at the outside breaker box and NEVER turned it back on. So for 2 weeks, my refrigerator was off.. leaving $300 worth of Steaks, Burgers, Chicken, Hotdogs, etc… literally melting in my fridge. My trailer smelled like a morgue, flies were everywhere. The smell was so bad, neighbors from across the street were coming out of their houses asking us what happened. I had to throw my refrigerator out because there was so much juice from the meats that had went bad that it was just not worth cleaning, let alone sanitary. I have yet to purchase a new fridge, but a scratch and dent at the very minimum will be between $200-$300 with delivery.
I texted Mr. Solomon that I was at my trailer and I needed him to call me ASAP. I have not heard from Mr. Solomon at all.
Not only has he not replaced either my front or back doors, but he did not fully complete the skirting he started, did not reattach my outside outlet that he removed, and left a mess around my property. In addition, Mr. Solomon and /or his employees failed to turn my electric back on causing me to lose not only several hundred dollars in food and beer, but I had to trash my refrigerator due to the extensive nature of the damage and unsanitary condition inside it. (The meat juices had gone down through the back vents of the freezer and it could not just be cleaned out)
Not once in the 3 weeks that Mr. Solomon has been paid has he called me to give me any updates on any of the work to be performed or offered me a time frame as to when it would be done, even though he gave me the impression over the phone on 9/1 that it would be started and finished within that first week.
Mr. Solomon has lied throughout the process, even so far as stating that a family member died and he was in Florida, when in fact, his Facebook clearly shows him “checking into” a local business. He is a compulsive liar and a thief
Review: Re: Defective Product
On 10/22/13, [redacted] (President) representing AA Cutting Edge Remodeling, Inc. (PA Lie #[redacted]) met with my family to discuss a proposal to construct a deck on the rear of my property. He seemed professional and willing to work. He commented that he wanted to keep working as the summer season is slowing down since we are in the fall. He informed us that he could do the deck for $7,500 (lower end of the price since it was the fall). We agreed and gave him a 33% deposit and he cashed the check the next day. On the contract that I have it states that he would provide all permits given that he is a licensed contractor in the Commonwealth of PA (which is a law). The deck was completed on or around 10/31. There were several quality issues that he addressed that included crooked stairs, and him leaving all the tags on the boards. He did fix it quickly. I noticed that the overall quality of the deck was not what I thought it would be but lived with it because of the price I paid for the deck.
After the winter season and into the fall I noticed that the deck sunk on the back left of the deck -probably about 15 degrees. Enough to look unsafe. I contacted **. [redacted] on several occasions trying to get him to fix the deck. We mutually agreed that I would pay for the materials to fix the deck and that he would fix it at no charge. After several attempts for to get him to come out he has not shown up to fix the deck. He would claim he would come out and then would never show. There was once instance where there was an alleged health issue. I still had faith since I had no other reason not to since he seemed like a good guy. After the second or third time which included my wife missing work/pay to wait for him he didn't show. I decided to call the township zoning office to see who inspected the deck since other areas were looking bad. I learned that he never applied or obtained a permit for the deck. I did tell **. [redacted] that on the last time we spoke and he denied it. I then texted him one last offer to fix the deck for $500 including me paying for the materials and I never heard back. That was on 6/23/14.
Since then, I reached out to a structural engineer, [redacted], LLC to inspect the deck. I received a report on 7/17/14 with over five major defects that have created an 'unsafe' situation and there professional opinion is to have the deck removed. They also stated that cost to fix the deck will exceed the cost. The engineer also explained that we should not have anyone on the deck which resulted in us canceling three summer parties. I am highly disappointed.
Since this is a serious safety issue to my family and to the structural health of my home I need to act quickly to resolve the deck matter which includes a complete tear down.Desired Settlement: Give the above issues I am seeking a full refund for the deck ($7,500). At this time, I am not including the amount paid to the [redacted] engineers, cost of tearing down the current deck, time lost from work, time spent on this issue, and damages.
