Review: A&A Music had a contract to render staging and lighting services for an event. The spotlight did not work. They refuse to address or offer refund
A&A Music Events was contracted (May 11, 2013-BLUSH benefit Fashion Show Event,CSUS Alumni Center, Sacrametno,CA)to provide staging, lighting, spotlight, and pipe & drape for a benefit event. The spotlight bulb blew out 10 minutes before show time. Staff left facility to get replacement bulb. Arrived after start of show and returned with an incompatible bulb (standard house light) The entire event was without spotlight. Staff present at event admitted to replacement light being incompatible and that bulbs for the spotlight had to be special ordered. When I called/emailed owner, [redacted] to address issue and request refund , owner screamed that since he offered a discount, "everyone looses!" Then he continued to shout,"What do you want? What do you want lady?" and hung up the phone. the issue still has not been addressed nor has any offer of making the good on contracted work. The contract was at a discounted rate. I paid $650 for contracted services.Desired Settlement: Due to the lack of services rendered (discounted or not) and the lack of customer service and the owner's inability to address the issue, I am requesting a full refund on all services rendered for the May 11, 2013 event. ($650)

Business' Initial Response
It said I couldn't email but this is the best way right now I can clear my name and my reputation. Please look at the picture and her contract and see the HUGE discount I gave her for her event. This is her 3rd year with me and each year she ask for more for the same price. I have tried to explain that this cost. She had four guys as labor to set up everything and two guys there for the event in case something went wrong. What happen was that the set up happen she was happy and the guys turn on the spotlight two hours before the event and the bulb blew. So they were scramming. One guy left and drove all over Sacramento on a Saturday at 4p.m. He found a bulb in Roseville got back at 5:40p.m to the event changed it out and started. Yes I did agree the bulb was weaker than the first bulb but they had the spot light and the operator as per contract. She then proceeded to call me 40 times that evening as I was at another event.
I return her call the following Tuesday she told me she wanted all her money back. I said it doesn't work that way. Everything was fine she said but the spotlight was weaker and the photographers she had didn't have their own light on the cameras?
Which I find hard to believe unless there just starting out? She said the photographers said that it was our fault why her pictures didn't come out. But I will add that on her Facebook Page there were plenty of pictures of the event that look great.
So I said what will make you happy she said give me back $100.00. I said that really isn't fair but ok I will mail you a check 60 days out. That conversation happen on May 22 Wednesday. I will be mailing her a check this weekend so I would hope that this will be dropped off my reputation. Please let me know how to clean this up. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Consumer's Final Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not accept this response due to the fact that much of the information in the response are small fragments of truth. Much of the information provided in Mr [redacted]'s response is inaccurate and as he stated himself, "that evening as I was at another event" So, he can not adequately confirm or deny the events of the evening in question.
BLUSH Event partners as well as myself have records and witnesses of contracts, correspondence, phone calls, times, dates and failure to deliver service as well as response to this incident.
Mr [redacted] has contracted 2 years of service to this benefit event with me (at a discounted rate). And in the first year he provided excellent service. This being the case, I solicited his services for a second year. However, due to equipment failure, the 2013 BLUSH benefit event failed to have contracted lighting. This was a hindrance to the event in and of itself. There was no mention of photography by me to Mr [redacted] and available public pictures of his event were posted/provided by audience members and models not by photographers hired for the BLUSH event.
Mr [redacted] did send a refund check of $100 (mailed July 19, 2013 and received July 20, 2013 as indicated on the postage) Which is over the "60 days" of the event (Saturday,May 11th)and the date in which I attempted to contact Mr [redacted] via phone and email, Monday May 13th. However, he sent the refund under the condition that this complaint concerning his lack of professionalism and customer service be removed from his business record. (per the letter accompanying the refund check) This unfortunately is not agreeable. I will not cash this check nor agree to the conditions.
This gesture is not an adequate exchange for the equipment failure and/or the lack of attention, acknowledgement or customer service when addressing this matter.
