AA-Repairs

Review: Requested service call for an 8 year old Bosch dryer and asked for an evaluation of whether I should repair or buy new. Was informed that a new heating element would be required. Got price of over $400 for its replacement, to which I agreed. When that was installed I was then informed yet another part would be required (over $ 200 more). On this day I was literally packing to leave for 2 weeks and under stress. [redacted], himself, seemed stressed and frustrated that the components weren't exactly having effective results. (He pointed out that Bosch dryers don't heat as high as domestic models...of which I was already aware because we had been using one for years. I sensed he didn't have complete faith in his work, but the air was at least a bit warm, so I paid him his $687 and off he went. I should note that he informed me on that day, March 14, 2013, that if the repair didn't work, I would not have to pay for it. I was hopeful and stressed and paid. Upon returning 2 weeks later it became clear that the dryer was blowing only unheated air. Spoke with [redacted] on phone. He assured me that defective parts would be under warranty. We made an appointmentt which he did not keep. I have since left phone, e-mail and text messages which have been completely ignored. I am back where I started with a dryer that doesn't work and in the hole to the tune of $687 for parts and labor. (By the way, replacing with new Bosch same size would be approx $900. A $500 repair would have been pushing it, but had I known a non-repair of $687 would have brought me here, I would surely have opted for new. [redacted] is pleasant, courteous and well-meaning--but apparently inept and irresponsible, too. Please helpDesired Settlement: Of course my desired outcome would be to have a dryer (old or new) that works. Unfortunately I don't have any confidence that further efforts by [redacted] to repair would be satisfactory. Indeed, in that one conversation after my 2 week absence when we made the appointment I stated flatly that I had no intention of paying another dollar. It was at that time that he assured me the parts he installed (including heating element) would be under warranty. Inhave since called in another company to evaluate. They are due to come in on May 6.
