AAA Auto Repair

Review: I had my car towed to AAA Auto on June 14th. I chose this particular mechanic because his website advertised "free rental cars" and that he would be able to tow my car from my home to his shop. After my insurance adjustor surveyed the damage to my vehicle and let me know the repairs they would cover I discussed this with the mechanic. My timing belt needed to be replaced but was not one of the repairs covered by my insurance. I agreed to pay $600.00 to replace timing belt and gave a $300.00 deposit toward that. My insurance sent me a check for $1900.00 and my deductible was $500.00 so I explained to the mechanic that I could only spend an additional $2400.00 to get my car back on the road. He agreed to that and I gave him an additional $1500.00 deposit. I asked for an itemized statement of repairs to be completed and offered to have him e-mail it to me. He stated that he was not good with computers but would call me the following day with statement. The following day I called again and he said he was not at his shop at that moment and did not have access to my statement but said he knew we could not go over estimate of $2400.00 for engine and $600.00 for timing belt. I asked about getting one of his "free rental cars" but he said his rental was "broken" at the moment. After my car was finished he called and told me to come pick it up and said I owed and additional $1950.00 for a total of $3750.00. I told him that was more than I had and he said he was closing shop for vacation soon and I could take that time to "save up" the extra money. He told me to call him Friday July 12th with my payment but when I called (3 times that day) his answering machine said the shop was closed until August 5th!!! So now I am without my car for an additional 3 weeks and cannot even discuss the bill with him until then. I have spent $400.00 on transportation back and forth to work due to him not having rental car and am not paying additional $750.00 that was never agreed upon.Desired Settlement: I would like to pay original agreed upon amount of $3000.00 total for repairs. I have already paid $1800.00 so that leaves a final payment of $1200.00.
