Mr *** had a original engine warranty from yamato that stated year or miles he original warranty has expired then he wanted me to put a new warranty on the custom engine we had built at no expense to Mr*** he Has a receipt that was dated feb of that shows a three year warranty That warranty has since expired We have never determined whether or not there even is a engine balance issue I have never seen any paper work pertaining to a diagnosis of his issue , apparently he wasn't satisfied with five other mechanics as well I never has His vehicle for said four months to do a installFurther more I did give Mr *** $for a rental car which he has copies of on his receiptthe last time He picked his vehicle up Mr*** was happy with the feel at the time as far as I knew whether he has maintained with routine service and the recommended work with the exhaust and fuel pump is yet to be determined I have confidence in the machine shops ability to balance a engine and since we already took care of a engine that had right side wear due to a run ability issue or neglect I feel we have exceeded any terms of warranty At this Time as far as I'm concerned Automotive Inc is done with this matter Sincerely Corey W***

In response to Mr*** complaint , Mr *** brought his Chevrolet van into or shop in Oct with a engine failure I worked up a estimate for a jasper engine that would have came with a year 100,mile warranty At the time Mr *** insisted that he could not afford the jasper
engine and asked for a cheaper option Against my recommendation and better judgement we agreed and went with a ATK engine I installed the engine at a discounted rate of $dollars and 10% percent mark up on the engine book time was hrs When installing the engine we noted a grounded front mount and a cracked right exhaust manifold , Mr *** declined extra repairs due to costMr *** picked up the vehicle which he drove miles and had a internal engine failure I I contacted ATK and they sent us another engine which I installed at no additional costduring the next year to year and a half I had talked to Mr*** a couple times in which he had some complaint of vibration He stated he had been to other shops that were not able to repair the issue In late July He brought the van into me and it was running noticeably rough and shook I agreed to take care of the issue I spoke with my machinist (*** *** ) and the Manager *** *** informed me the the engine had a history of vibrating because they didn't use a internal balance shaft At this time I had agreed to custom build a new engine with a balance shaft for Mr***We installed the new engine I also paid $dollars for a week of rental Car in good faith to Mr*** in efforts to please him On disassembly of the engine we took out we found heavy main line wear and valve guide wear on the right bank of engine We sent the trottle body out at no cost to clean injectors and check pressure regulator upon completion of the job I recommended that Mr *** have the exhaust checked for restriction and that he have the shop that replaced fuel check it out due to noise in tank I was never presented with any service records of oil changes at recommended intervals I was just good faithing the warranty When Mr *** picked up the vehicle he asked what the warranty was and I told him it was from the warranty was from his original install date of 10/17/.at which time he raised complaint .Again in good faith I gave him warranty for two years or miles against defectThe Vehicle was picked up 8/05/thus any warranty would have expired 8/05/Before and up 8/05/I hadn't received any complaint about a engine problem with the new ballanced engine installed 8/05/I had spoken to Mr*** the end of September and he told me the engine vibrated I told him that there was no longer any warranty on my end I as well told him that I would test drive and give him my opinion though I whould not be willing to work on the vehicle due to our past experiencehe agreed to come by but never did I feel that Automotive Inc went above in efforts to please Mr *** at extreme cost Whether or not Mr *** ever had regular service or the exhaust or fuel pump issue addressed would have been up to him Either way Mr *** never offered My shop first right of refusal on any warranty work that would have pertained to the engine installed 8/05/Thus any warranty has since expired Sincerely Corey W***

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:Sincerely,[redacted]

It is still to be determined whether or not the engine has an internal problem. I should know by the end of next week at the latest, as the mechanic was sick and I have to reschedule the appointment. The basis of this complaint at this point was Mr. W[redacted]'s unprofessional and discourteous manner on the phone regarding the engine warranty. Once I told him several mechanics told me the engine was possibly out of balance, he said "that engine is so out of warranty" (when it clearly is STILL under warranty)  and said basically he did not want to deal with me at this point. Not sure where to turn as at that point five different mechanics could not determine the vibration problem, I asked him if he would at least listen to the engine and he agreed. After getting off the phone and feeling dismissed, I decided to find yet another mechanic instead as it was not in my best interest to deal with Mr. W[redacted] any longer  - why should I? How much can you trust someone under the circumstances? It took him four months and several botched engine installs within that time to attempt to install an engine - now he's saying there is a two year warranty  - which there is NO record or receipt of??? Produce a receipt showing this warranty! The engine I agreed to and paid for came with a three year warranty in writing and its on my receipt. Its true I brought my 1993 Chevrolet van to Mr. W[redacted] October 2011 with engine failure and I followed the advice he gave me. He gave me a choice between the Jasper engine (which I could not afford) and the Yamato engine with the three year warranty. I went with the Yamato engine. If I went 'against' Mr. W[redacted]'s recommendations, why would he accept the job? I followed his recommendations exactly as he instructed.  I have all receipts that show this to be fact and challenge Mr. W[redacted] to produce any and all receipts pertaining to this matter. I paid for any and all repairs necessary to make the vehicle safe and dependable upon Mr. W[redacted]'s recommendations, and my receipts also show this. My receipt for the install shows a total of $2853.02 and was I was given a verbal advisement that the maximum time for the install would two weeks but more likely one week. In the end it took four months and several attempts to get the engine to work correctly in which the engine never actually worked correctly. Mr. W[redacted] told me the vibration was coming from the transmission and told me he would give me a good deal on a transmission. I declined the offer. After approximately 1 1/2 years of use, the engine vibration was extreme and I brought it to several other mechanics for inspection, as at this point I felt Mr. W[redacted] was not capable of this type of repair. Several mechanics told me, 'the engine is likely out of balance'. After acquiring legal representation, I brought my van to several other mechanics based the lawyer's recommendation. I called Mr. W[redacted] about the engine trouble and he insisted it was the transmission. I had my lawyer call and leave a message with Mr.W[redacted]'s shop. Mr. W[redacted] contacted me to bring in the van for him to look for engine replacement only after I had my lawyer call his shop. Mr. W[redacted] comments about the $400 rental car fees (do you have a receipt?) but that doesn't account for all the time during his 'four month leisure engine install' that I was paying rental car fees - which I've never made mention until now. After I received the van back with a new engine, Mr. W[redacted] made no verbal mention of any warranty and my receipt dated 08-05-13 makes no mention of a warranty as well. My Yamato engine paper work (with Mr. W[redacted]'s handwriting) I received with the receipt of the sale with the first engine states a 3 year warranty .On my receipt dated 02-14-12, accompanying the yamato engine paperwork,  Mr. W[redacted] hand wrote there is a 3 year warranty on the engine on his shop receipt. The engine I agreed to and paid for came with a three year warranty in writing and thats what it says on my receipt.
