First, this company claimed to be Licensed and Insured on a business card they gave me which I still have. I found out later that they are not in the state of North Carolina, but still claimed to be licensed in [redacted]. The repairs to my fence were not complete and I had to ask them to come back, then less that 4 weeks later I came to inspect the property before renting it and the brand new wood was splitting and some of the older wood was now splitting too. They used some older wood from the fence door on other parts of the fence. There were also nails coming through the fence and I worried that the renting family may hurt themselves this way. I contacted the owner who clarified that they are not licensed or insured and he promised to come fix the damage. He even gave dates which I passed onto my property management company. The tenant at my property complained that she waited for him to show and he never did, so I contacted him again and he decided to change his mind and said that he would not repair the damage. I cannot trust this company's work and I cannot trust their word to fix it when they said they would. I am considering small claims court to get the money back to fix the fence properly and conceal the nails that pose a hazard to my renters. I have kept all e-mail correspondences including those where the owner-[redacted]- agrees to fix the damage and then the e-mails where he changes his mind.Product_Or_Service: Fence repairDesired SettlementI can no longer trust this company to repair the damage and do not want an uninsured company working on my property. I would like a refund of $500 out of the $760 I paid for this work to pay for a licensed and reliable company to fix the damage left by this company. No resolution through the Revdex.com will result in pursuit in small claims court. Business Response In regards to my company claiming to be licensed and insured, the customer asked several times if we were and the response was always, "Not in North Carolina." The business card in question was explained, at the time that it was given, that it is not for the work done in North Carolina and is the direct card of me, the owner, and my work in [redacted] At no time did any one in my company claim to be licensed in [redacted]. We have never done any work in [redacted], nor have we even considered it. As far as the repairs to the fence never being completed; on the first day of work, the customer attempted to hand over a check for the agreed upon amount. My employee did not accept the check and informed the customer that we would only accept payment after they saw the work and were satisfied with what was completed. Two weeks after the work was done, the employee who completed the work and the customer both looked at the completed job. During that time, the customer stated concerns for a piece of wood that hadn't been replaced. The following day, my employee was there and replaced it, as requested. The brand new wood that was splitting is just the minor aging of treated Top Quality lumber that was purchased, directly off the shelf of [redacted] It is in no way excessive or out of character for lumber of its type. There is a comment about my company using some older wood from the fence gate on other parts of the fence. That is a fact that we will never deny, nor could we. During the initial estimate, the customer explicitly requested that the wood from the gate we were removing be used to replace planks from the fence that were falling apart/off in an effort to keep the price of the repairs down. When the customer e-mailed me about doing more work on the fence, several weeks after payment had finally been received; I agreed to do so without consulting my employee who had done the work. After conferring with him and examining the pictures sent by the customer, we were able to determine that the "faulty" work done was not faulty at all. The new lumber was simply aging at its normal rate; the previously undamaged old wood that was now splitting was just the cause of it being old wood, not related to the work done. The "exposed" nails that might pose a hazard to the renting family were not threatening and had been made safe. They were not removed because the bid given to the customer clearly stated, "Remove exposed nails from warped boards" and the board they are in is not warped. This customer attempted to get me to do more work on the fence because of some new issues that had arisen in the existing "old" fence. If I had agreed to do it, a few weeks later, the customer would have again contacted me for more repairs at no extra cost because I guarantee the work of my company. Eventually, I would have given the customer a brand new fence, valued at $5,500, for only $760. Who would be the victim then?Final Consumer Response Buyer Beware!!!!!!!!!This is no true. The business card was never explain. I was told [redacted]. I chose this company out of many others I vetted because I was told they were licensed and insured. I have his business card that in NO ONE states it is not for North Carolina! This will be evidence in court. It says "Licensed and insured for YOUR protection" on it! This will be evidence if this has to go to small claims court. The damage the the fence that I asked for him to fix the second time was the BRAND NEW wood was splitting and nails were starting to protrude. This not normal in any way and it is unsafe for my renters. This damage was caused by a lack of knowledge of his employees when installing the wood and wood screws. After agreeing to fix it. I was NOT contacted with fhis change of mine- he left me, my renters, and my rental company waiting for him and he NEVER showed up. This is very unprofessional. The damage to the new wood happened just weeks after installation and it was apparently from the way the screws were installed, or maybe the wood was bad. Either way- the claim that I am trying to get him to do extra work and not just fix the work they did not do properly is false. I have photos from the first time the damage was seen, and it clearly shows the NEW wood splitting. Also, I have never met this man. I only met an employee- who I later found out was his son-in-law!!! This man, however, did see photos before agreeing to fix it, so the claim that he didn't know until speaking to his employee is false. He made the decision based on the photos- not just my word. This is not a good business man. He is a liar and very unprofessional. Buyer Beware!!!!!!!!!
